I think this is maybe the best explaination we have about the Note 7 yet.
I suspect it's all because Samsung wants to keep their customers happy. Remember when the Note 7 arrived and many people were dissapointed and quick to say that the 3500 mAh battery inside was less than the battery inside the S7 edge.
Samsung tried to please their customer by putting everything they can in a small device but we know how that turns out. Maybe if they decrease the battery to 3200 mAh thus reducing the size of the battery, the Note 7's fate can be avoided.

This new makes me happy to having a 5.5 inch phone with 3000 mah. Cause its means more space and less explode!

I opened up my phone(not a Note 7) and the battery fits snugly in its space.. Definitely no 10% gap here and the phone is working alright.. I believe all phones are designed this way.. If any phone has 10% leeway space then the battery is loose and you can shake the battery inside your phone.. Yet this is not the case for all phones on this planet.. We've been dealing with expanded bulging batteries since the 3310 days.. The bulging easily pushes the case whether it is plastic or aluminum and the thing chugs along just fine.. This study is simply flawed.

I can't trust Samsung ever again, I remember the early onset of the Note 7 explosions, an engineer that took apart the Note 7 did mention that the internal structure of the phone has very tight margins and that will lead to too much pressure on the battery but Samsung denied that and blamed the explosion on defective batteries which was manufactured by an outsourcing company, shifting the blame for their own manufacturing ineptitude on another company, now that the truth is out, how can I ever believe any statements made by Samsung in the future.

i really think that the photo is wrong..most batteries are snuggly fitted into phones..its probably the thickness that might have caused the problem..10percent leeway in length and width?? yeah right..

This is what happens when you let fashion and "designers" have too much control over products..
I would love to see some market research figures from around the world's makers,specially ones that apparently every generation MUST be thinner,even at the cost of sensible engineering reasons that say no..
Nobody makes a decent thick phone anymore,their all built for people that A)seem to have massively long fingers to hold the devices in the first place, it then apparently for some reason cannot hold anything thicker than 10/12 mm with the same fingers,,must be that nearly everyone secretly has arthritis in their fingers !!
Why still no device,with full device screenn sized slide out qwerty,decent sized battery and is 25+mm thick and has enough body and chassis to A)not bend with slight pressure,B) can take more than one drop from a 1 metre height...
Oh,I forgot,bloody idiot fashions and poxy "designers"

Technololgy will get there, there aren't chemical or physical restraints, but we're not there as of today.

One, it is in hindsight - it presumes what may be known now was known in September or October. Two it assumes manufacturing processes could be swiftly adapted to a smaller battery size for that unit. Three, there is a marketing issue in that the device was marketed as having a particular battery capacity.
