Apple knows there's a flaw but charges you to repair it which costs more than the phone, go figure.
Its not the battery but something in the board itself that destroys the battery

AnonD-105795, 06 Dec 2016Hahaha a now they blame the air instead of accepting design... moreIt's not a design flaw. It's a manufacturing defect for a batch of phones and if you read the Apple webpage, you'd know they're offering free battery replacements for affected units.

        Guys, learn to read:

It's some chemicals or components that got exposed to air "Before being assembled into battery packs". SO the fault is on the components of the batteries themselves.

I love the way Apple immediately ID the problem, track supply to isolate the source and set up a website so iPhone users can check if their phone is affected. This is in contrast with Samsung's headless chicken style of crisis management.

            Hahahahha.

the reason why the batteries failed was due to "Ambient Air" ???

you mean it came into contact with air? As in air?

            And it broke it?

Love you apple, just when i'm feeling down you bring me back up with something awesome like this.

            Superb.

In Pakistan Apple authorized dealer is ignorant of this defect and has no replacement batteries in store. Apple people reading would save their reputation at stake.
