i bought the phone from at&t thinking it would be good.
    i was mistaken.
    -NO PSP games
    -NO ISOs
    -Android games only
    -RAM is crap, always freezes
-Internal memory only allows for about 50-75 apps (depending on size)
-all in all, unless an update is applied to the phone allowing for PSP games phone is crap

Unless this phone is super cheap, why bother?

Much better to get a cheap phone + PsP2?

PsP2 is about 100000 times more powerful than this phone.

So i fail to see what the point of this is.

The only thing that gets me is that this thing doesn't have a left analog stick, unless that center strip with the 2 dots is a touch sensitive control interface. I have read that the Xperia Play is confirmed to be compatible with 70% of PSP titles. I would love to play the new Monster Hunter Freedom 3 on the Play, but it won't happen if they don't have that analog control.

After seeing the Motorola Atrix 4G, this thing needs NVIDIA TEGRA 2 & 1GB of RAM. Also a bigger battery. I think SE didn't think this thoroughly and plan it for the longer run. It seems they just put this altogether rather quickly without any real thought. If it gets TEGRA 2 (dual core) and Honeycomb, this device would be a serious player. It doesn't have to outspec the PSP2, but it should try to be on par with the top of the line phones of 2011. I feel they will release another one within a year or so and make it sleeker and more powerful. This is just a testing ground. I want to see it succeed because I would love to play emulated games on my phone. I still have a 5 1/2 year old PSP phat that I still love because I downloaded the Sega Genesis Compilation and FFVII. I am reliving my middle/high school years again. Genesis and PS1 are two of my fav consoles ever. Portable gaming involves online distribution to eliminate carrying physical media all the time. I got a PhotoFast Dual-Slot MicroSD/MSPD converter at 32GB. To have multiple games stored in my handheld is awesome. No need to switch games in and out. My library is all in the palm of my hand and it isn't the homebrew emulated ROMS that sometimes run like crap. This Xperia Play could be a retro gamer/JRPG fan dream come true if it wants to be.

i heard android 2.3(gingerbread) is been optimised for gaming,if its true then this phone shouldnt have performance prob.the psp can perform very well even with its dated hardware.its because the psp os is been solely created for gaming wherease android takes gaming as just another job..raw specs tell that its far more powerful than a psp.but what counts is the gaming performance

as usual what do you expect with s.e.?
They're always late with their technology.
Xperia play should already have a super amoled display, 1gb ram, 1+ Ghz processor, 16 Gb internal memory if they gonna release it in Q2.
I wonder also if it could play psp games..
