Case in point, I had Samsung Galaxy S7 which ultimately didn't work for me, though it has the better camera and specs, because of Hybrid SIM slot and 32 GB Storage! Xperia X with SD650+64 GB Storage works and the shortcoming of not latest Specs and average camera, I can live with easily! Add to the Sony UI which works best even after months BUT Samsung & LG UI, thanks to the over the top extra features, starts slowing down! HTC, OPO3 etc. with only a few GOOD features added to stock perform well too!

In this age, when people are simply BLINDED by hardware specs, the only way for Sony is to focus on timely updates to differentiate AND most importantly, price their phones right from day 1. I have a Xperia X but bought it after 10k off its launch price which I deem fair coming from a Global Brand (Not interested or want no irrelevant comparison with Xiaomi or other Chinese OEMs with 0 updates or loaded with Apple like unoptimized less secure UI BUT agree that OPO 3 is better, just because company is intelligent enough to launch 1 device per year and hence, easier to support with timely updates)

And you imagine it is Lenovo that rolls out 7.1.1 to the Moto 2016 series. It would be logic since Nougat hasn't been released yet (No, the Moto G4 series haven't received yet, and I should know. I possess a retail Moto G4+ and there is no Nougat here. Even on the official forums, official Motorola employees confirmed N hasn't been released) and that they were the first to roll KitKat if you recall.

Damn, Sony is finally focused on beating the rest again. This is the competitive attitude they should maintain, even in hardware. If they maintain this competitive attitude in hardware, they can take on Samsung, that would make flagship competition intense.

With poor sales track, updating Nouget at the earliest is the only hope for Sony to bring more customers, build lost faith and differentiate.
Its a good move which may force other OEMs to take softwares update seriously. Beware samsung and Chinese manufacturers.
One of the biggest reasons that Apple and Pixel charge Premium is because they guarantee future updates.
