Both times they've mentioned, that Note 7 is banned, and if you have one, you must deposit it to the crew. Not all the airlines have done it, but most of them did. And in case of Brits, it's "we never see it happening, unless it'll happen". No common sense and no ability to act preventively.

Verizon's reasoning is BS. Their Note 7 users can just walk in a Verizon store and walk out a new phone. There is no reason why Verizon can ignore a safety recall.

What I do know, from working in a phone shop, is that if you post a phone then you will be asked what phone it is. If you was to post a Note 7 then Royal Mail will straight up decline it.

Also, the air stewards make no mention of any phone of any kind being banned. Not in the UK anyway.

And when you get on the plane, you will hear the "Note 7 is banned from this flight, if you have one, please contact the member of the crew" song. You won't do it and someone will spot you using it? That's a jail time for you. I'm not gonna debate whether it's right or wrong, but it has to be done. Samsung has to act as a precaution to cover their asses. Yeah...most of the Note 7 didn't burst into flames, but it only takes one to damage someone for life. You want to take that chance? Fine! I wouldn't.

The IMEI have to be changed, because the carriers will disconnect the phones.
BTW Note7 is not more prone to 'explosions' that any other phone.

those carriers could ban note 7 or any other device from using their private networks but they do not have the authority to brick the devices from afar. only the end users of note 7 should decide for themselves whether or not to return their devices to samsung or keep them even though they might be defective. it's their responsibility in the end
the situation is similar to a car company recalling a specific model for safety and defects. it doesn't mean they are allowed to lock on the car and "drone" it. it's up to the owners of the cars what they decide or do

People out there if you have a note 7 all you have to do is root your phone and put a custom rom and it and you will not receive any OTA update. Not all Note 7 are defect. This is a collector item now and you can get good money for it.
