I think my next phone will be a Moto, oh how I miss them so my first Android was a Moto; at least I'm using a Lenovo phone for now as a show of support lol

Uh, Miguel, the Moto G4 & Z have had 7.0 for a few weeks now, which has been well ahead of most other OEMs. So the X line getting Nougat before 2017 is still better than 1+, LG and Samsung. Of course, anyone who's really anal about updates can always flash an updated AOSP ROM with all the security updates that you don't really need.

so glad i ditched moto for a nexus. After the 7.1 updates, you'll get maybe one or two security updates, at most.

Motorola is not one of the first brands to give updates anymore. They keep saying they're gonna release it soon, keep doing soak tests for weeks, months and saying it's to assure stability and bug fixing, only to take several months to actual release the update.
