There have been leaks of newer Explorer designs and it will be quite nice. Now that they are going to be taking a stronger approach to tablets the Os will need to have the touch friendly additions added quickly. The insiders don't actually get what MS has, as evident by some of the stuff they show off and never hits insiders. Insiders test very specific code, update mechanisms, all sorts of stuff. I don't do insider on my PC but even the start menu will change again with creators update and for the better this time. It just goes to show you how unfinished windows 10 is and how serious they take feedback.

My Lumia 950xl has a smaller screen than this device, yet windows 10 works fine.
I used a mouse and keyboard on Lumia 950xl with ease and pin point accuracy, I have never heard of anyone saying using mouse on a small screen (Lumia 950xl) is pain, just only you, it could be that you've never used one before.

Most of your arguments here are wrong. In tablet mode the UI is a lot bigger for touch, edge browser is equally designed for touch too, it is a lot easier to user with touch than any other browser I have come across, it is also very fast and safe.
People who 2 in 1 devices will agree with me that tablet mode and laptop mode are different, but you don't know this cos you've never used one yourself.

You have to add miss ratio to succeeded taps (far greater on non optimized environment), you have to add how much more navigation a given action needs (again typically greater on non tablet envrionments). The average action is often a couple of seconds slower on a non optimized environment. That's significant and frustrating. We buy the best processors , storage and Ram available to gain some mere milliseconds and then we lose it all (and some more) to bad GUIs.
A well designed environment is a serious business, often more so than an ultra powerful processor. Buying a non optimized tablet you effectively cut your response times. Cull them enough and the experience starts feeling clanky and 2nd rate. There is a reason why iPads sell more than surface pros. They can do less things, but they typically do it far faster, which is the relevant metric for most people.
Now if you have specific needs (say you are a coder), go on buy Microsoft (although I prefer Linux, but that's just me), but for the rest having a more optimized environment is more important. Xiaomi should seriously consider dual boot, else it turns this into a niche product...

There is a whole science around GUI development. Most of the people here don't have the faintest idea, but actually the size of the screen and the mode of interaction plays a huge role in the way an environment is being designed.
That is to say good for a phone is not good for a tablet (which is why we have tablet specific uis) and what is good for tablets is not good for laptops and vice versa.
The reasons are not too complicated but they tend to compound. Yes you can use what practically is a laptop environment to a tablet as you can also use a screwdriver to unlock your door every time you want to enter your home.
The 2in1 idea fails just about there. It *would* work if Microsoft succeeded in creating a tablet ecosystem (and to be fair they tried), but in failing that you get a subpar tablet experience.
Again, like I said people are OK with that, as well as using 3rd rate apps, as well as driving a ford fiesta instead of a Tesla. I mean you *can* do all these, that's not my argument. My argument is "better not, though", just offer android dual boot and be done with it...

Right click... moreExactly my point. Android is built around touch, in Windows it's an afterthought and it shows. It's awkward to use and everything takes twice the time. Of course fan boys will find nothing wrong with it, I'm just stating the obvious.
It's a legacy software built for legacy controls, hence why it has small elements, low dpi, as well as typing and keyboard shortcuts playing a more prominent role. Using Windows on a tablet (I.E. smaller than 10 inches) makes no sense. For 12 inches and up is good mostly due to lack of serious competition (although Mac is better according to many).

It is compatible with touch (after win 8) but it's ages behind the much better android's explorers. Like I said it's a relic. If you use mouse it's fine I guess. But using a mouse jn such a small screen is already painful.
Try some of the best android explorers, supporting everything from cloud storage to ftp to smb and even making libraries of different kinds of data automatically all the while being optimized for touch (bigger easy to reach elements) and then talk.
Windows is a bad fit for such small screens. No wonder that many more devices are using iOS or Android these days. Windows is a relic of a bygone era. Its only saving grace is its support for powerful software, but that will be gone soon if Apple and Google play their cards right.
