Most of the comments here mentions about price. Why is not anyone discussing about -
    A) The design - it IS a flawed design. It looks like a hearing aid with a protruding stick. It surely is not a classy design.
    B) Usability- Our wired earphones stay in our ears only due to certain aids like over the ear hooks or a slanted back piece which rests on the inside of the earlobe. During rush hour in the metro or any public transport, a jolt by some one or any kind of push disengages it from the earlobe insides and falls out, but due to the wire, it saves our day. Does any of you thought of such usability issues. Why not we discuss about such points.
    C) Seeing the design of these pods, I'm sure most of us believes that this a design, designed n haste. They just wanted to eliminate the jack in the 7 model and be the leader. But it's so wrong to push a flawed design on us.
    C) Pods Replacement costs - is it worth it. Do we've to pay for their design flaw. Do we've to pay for such an uncool item just because it's produced by a 'cool' popular Co.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, lets have a practical discussion.

Just because there's no 3.5mm jack in the iPhone 7/7S itself doesn't mean you're stuck with wireless or TB headphones or that old 3.5mm headphones can no longer be used.

If you know nothing about Apple products, why are you even talking?

I hate adaptors as well & I have one pair of earphones that do not work with the Lightning-jack adaptor that Apple provide & they are a pair of Beats (original UrBeats before the Apple buyout but still funny).

Bluetooth adaptor works great, no wires & I can charge that & charge my phone at the same time if I need to & still use them, not ideal but still works.

Apple were quiet happy for Belkin to make an adaptor to charge your phone & listen to music at the same time, although stupidly putting to Lightning ports on the adaptor instead of a Lightning & a 3.5mm jack. & Philips made a very good pair of Lightning headphones before anyone removed the jack & they work on any iPhone with a Lightning port so again, another non Apple solution.

With the new MacBooks, Apple is making you think of alternatives & buy a multitude of adaptors to connect different things as they have used the Type-C port instead of a standard USB port but the Mac will work fine without these things connected & Apple are not forcing you to buy their products.

You are free to go with whatever solution meets your requirements.

Using the adaptor forced me to ditch the charging while using the earphone at the same time. If they had keep the earjack then I wouldn't had complained.

AnonD-621510, 17 Dec 2016Not necessarily Apple product. You used a different adaptor... moreI chose to have the adaptor when I could & did use the jack on my 6+. Apple has made me do nothing. I would use the same set up if I had the first intended Note 7. Forcing someone to do something is not giving them an option for anything else. Has Motorola/Lenovo forced people as they were the first to ditch the jack? No. Would Samsung be forcing people if they follow through with the rumours? No. If Apple had taken away the jack & said you can only use the Airpods/Beats due to the Bluetooth frequencies or the W1 chip then yes, that is forcing. The fact that there are thousands of different solutions that are away from Apple makes me say that they, nor any other company that has ditched the jack, forcing you to do anything.

That is still an alternative. You forced yourself to use different earphone instead of the earpods provided inside the box because you hate wires. In other words, Apple force us to use that earpods with lightning connector. You are lucky you had the other ones from previous phone so you dont need to buy anything new.

I am not forced into anything by Apple. They got rid of the earphone jack. How is that not forcing to buy alternatives? One way or the other iphone 7 users need to buy this thing or the usb type version. I still call that forcing. Apart from that, they doing a good job at selling this type of device separately. One piece of airpod for $69 not bad of a deal than rebuying the whole thing.
