It's not useless to buy this phone depending on the use you have for it. A person using a phone for calls, SMS, WhatsApp, even Facebook and emails doesn't need all the millions of apps on Google play store or ios. They would be primarily in the age 40-50+. Quite a few billion of those people around.. Not to forget the camera which you won't get in a phone at this price.

Parts of menu names are lost in between screens, tiles are hard to navigate, and worst of all - the phones I tried to use were or seemed kind of slow despite their "top" hardware.
Can't complain about camera in 950 (xl?), quality-wise it was the best (or among the best) I've ever seen on mobile. But taking pictures, viewing them felt sluggish.
About phone makers: Alcatel, Acer, HP aren't known for making top products. First two are well known for their cheap offers (as a result - quality is sub-par, can't compete with top Samsung or HTC or LG phones in terms of cameras, for example), while HP is well known for their weird products and no less weird prices. I'd say HP should stick to where its good - laptops and printers.
Sadly, no leading phone making company is making windows phones any more. None from Samsung, LG, HTC. Xiaomi wants to make a tablet (?) but that isn't a phone. And I'm no longer a huge fan of Xiaomi products. Their prices are hard to beat, but quality-wise they have a long way to go. You get what you pay for.
If 950 XL wasn't sluggish in everyday tasks, I'd consider it.

Crazyyy, i would buy this device again, and again. For this price, it is not a steal, no other device is worthy for this money, in front of this device.

1. No apps: This phrase has been on for a very long time, until most windows phone users starting correcting them by letting them know that all the apps that is needed is available. Then second phrase was added.
2. Windows phone OS is dying or dead: I have been hearing these phrases since January this year, now we are in December the phrase has become old and Windows Phone is still here.
The phrase windows phone is dying or dead is a stale phrase; recently MS announced that an ultimate windows phone will be made, hp is fully committed to making windows phones, Alcatel are also making windows phones, Xiaomi recently announced a windows tablet, acer is equally in the business of making windows and many others. Windows Phone is going nowhere, haters can commit suicide or learn to live with it.
We know they don't like windows phones, they always hovering around news that concern windows phones in order to pour out their hatred. But they failed to understand that their likes is not compulsorily our like, so also their hate is not compulsorily our hate.
I love windows phones, it is very productive for me. You can to your android pages and offer your suggestions to the users.

In my country 300$ = ~ 600national currency and the cost to replace a broken display is 300 >.>
