4.6-inch Xiaomi Mi S reportedly on the way with Snapdragon 821, 4GB of RAM

No way. Chinese people hate phones. It's all about phablets there. That's where "phablet everything" started and expanded to the west. Back when we had 4.6-5 inch phones people in China routinely used 5.5 inch behemoths. You have to remember this is the country that routinely name phones 5.2-5.5 inches as minis. In fact Xiaomi is probably the only Chinese manufacturer with its flagship close to 5 inches and is regarded as an anomaly.
You also have to remember that Xiaomi mostly sells in China, the caslte of behemoths. No way they'll create a phone smaller than Mi5. If anything they will make it bigger (as in 5.5 incher Mi6).
In short: shoddy renders + the fact that it is a Chinese company we are talking about = This is fake AF.

Pretty much exactly what I'd want to replace my old HTC Rezound. Now the only question (which I know the answer to) is will it work with my UDP on Verizon?

If it's true , it should have a bigger battery.

123.8 mm in length and 4.6 inch screen size, that's just not believable. An iPhone 5 has that length

waiting for some audiophilic small phone from MI.
i do have a tablet, lappi, PC.
some small phone like 3-3.5 inch screen phone. for music and call only.
give some android power to it. little is needed.
but huge battery and pocket sliding design

i'd consider it a valid option if it turned out to be real, though of course i'd wait for reviews. given those specs, the battery seems kinda small for a 1080p screen. taking aside that 720p would be sufficient, too. at least my Z1 Compact looks fine with 720p. either way, i'd be up for the continuation of flagship-grade sub-5" devices

small phones are my fav.
but i also want my phone to be following before i opt for mid ranger phone.
killer looks, apple rocks in it.
least bezel. not like mix. i need some boundary to walk on.
okay in performance. decent. just fast enough. to run apps. like huge cache memory in cpu. not high frequency or octa, or deca-core.
thin, max 7-8mm. and 3.5 mm included.

Nice to see a compact flagship, definitely not a fan of small screen phones as I got big hands and can use 5.5 inches phones single handedly but I appreciate Xiaomi for providing more choices.

Some people with smaller hands, women or those like a bit smaller phones would truly love this.
There is a market for this smaller size phone. some people don't see it.
i personally likes phone with 4.5 to 5in. bigger than that is just hard to carry around the pocket.
