Android has many people that can influence various things & make them better but sometimes it can feel like the old saying 'to many cooks spoil the broth' but on the other hand Apple are themselves, they do what they want but can not help but think if they had some other companies help, just one & away from the screen, what could be achieved then.

SJM32, 28 Dec 2016I think the possibilities are the same on Android & iOS... moreI wasn't really speaking on the app store, while yes android has quite a few unregulated apps, it remains an open platform, so it is understandable. I was speaking more hardware and features. Android has the benefit of multiple manufacturers, and minds working on many different choices, types, prices, features, etc. Apple has themselves, while they can innovate...it has stagnated recently, (some android manufacturers have as well). Possibilities on android become almost limitless, and restricted to only the boundaries of coding and SoC limitations, that is the nature of open source. Apple sets limits within themselves, while the coding is Unix based (Android is Linux), and could have much potential, it is restricted to Apple's own standards and release schedules.

In the past I made this comparison:
        In the mobile realm,
Android is PCs, with complications of choice but infinite possibility
Apple is consoles, with simplicity and optimization, but 1 standard

There are pros & cons to both OS's.

I feel like people don't understand that Android is a platform, a basis for which anyone can build upon, create their own environments. This opens up many complications, but many possibilities

Apple is a pre-built environment, not a platform, it already has it standards, and is locked down as such. less complicated, but less possibilities.

SJM32, 28 Dec 2016But dont Google build the Android software & dont Googl... moreYes, then No. HTC built the Pixels on Google's Designs. Also, software is an entirely different realm from hardware. iOS and Android both have only made steps ahead in software...Android with 7.0 added native dual apps (the ability to run 2 apps simultaneously on the screen, some OEMs had this already in their custom UIs, but native support makes it much easier to implement), as well as many other tweaks and security updates, then in 7.1 added Google Assistant, etc.

Hardware side in the Android realm has been busy (Outside of Samsung), The Mi Mix as well as the Aquos showed us that bezel-less screens can work, with >90% screen ratio. LGs V series showed us that audiophile quality can be put into a phone with their hi-fi DACs, many android devices showed us many different ways to implement dual camera setups...from Huawei's B&W and color sensor combo, to LGs standard and Wide-angle lenses. LG attempted and Motorola refined modularity.

Apple showed us that they can remove a 3.5mm jack, replace it with nothing innovative (other than refine Bluetooth with a W1 chip which could've been done without removing a standard jack, I know moto removed it first..but it was for modularity, something innovative.), do another approach to dual cameras, and put an overly powerful SoC in their device.

Anyway, I do not believe this will be the next iOS flagship, maybe this will be the SE model for next year but I think Apple will really shake things up with the design of the Anniversary iPhone in 2017. This looks to much like the 7/7+ for it to be a flagship.

Simply compare the shadows and lights on the camera bump with the original apple images, and you can see that its just rotated by Photoshop.

One more thing: Its a press image, not one taken from the phone out in the wild. It never happens in case of apple to leak official press images (and not 9 months in advance).
