Samsung is rumored to out wireless in-ear headphones alongside the Galaxy S8

29 December 2016
This unfortunately means that the chances of the 3.5mm headset jack disappearing are pretty high.

Sales showed, that removing mini jack from new phones didn't worked well for the manufacturers. As much as the idea is appealing, the technology isn't there yet to give enough reason to switch. After Note 7 fiasco Samsung really needs to get their act together. If they remove 3.5 mm jack from S8 they will only loose more customers. Simple.

Jimmy chow, 30 Dec 2016I really want the 3.5mm jack gone. Such ancient tech. Yet any modern tech used in the phones as a replacement is inferior to 3.5mm jack. Sooo...if it's not broken, why change it? Going with the train of your thoughts - Li-Ion battery technology is at least 30 years old, yet we still use it. But since it's an "ancient tech", maybe you want to give that one up too?

AnonD-237590, 30 Dec 2016I have iPhone 7 and honestly I don't care about the 3.5mm j... moreFor now...you increased usage of lightning port by 100% (if not more). Soon the port will start giving up and you'll be "enjoying" $160 AirPods. No thanks!

LG superfan, 30 Dec 2016I dont understand this either why people prefer usb port ov... moreExactly. Apple did this so they can earn money. But tech is not yet evolved enough to be moving on bluetooth. Bluetooth is not yet optimized to drain less battery, also batteries are not evolved including, headphones will not last much time, everytime you will be needing to charge those headphones, plus they cost A LOT and also battery degrades very fast on small batteries like wireless earbuds have. Im still using 2€ wired earbuds from ebay and they work very well for my needs :), using it about 6 months now and still working.

Jimmy chow, 30 Dec 2016I really want the 3.5mm jack gone. Such ancient tech. lol, ancient lmao, batteries are old tech aswell, maybe lets remove batteries aswell? and make a cable so we can use our phones only when plugged in? hahha.

Most of the time when i use wired earbuds, i am charging my phone. Headphone jack CANNOT be removed. Apple did it so people start buying tech to their lightening port so applr can earn even more money lol, they knew that after removing that jack people will still buy iphones as they are dumb af.

This cant be right, samsung never do like apple, that never happen. Its not like samsung made a new kind if black phone just because iphone had a new black, right? So this rumor must be false, samsung NEVER did anything like it.

have a wireless in-ear headphones but keep the 3.5mm port

Anonymous, 30 Dec 20163.5mm jack is not enough, just like removable battery in LG... moreGoogle is not providing strict guidelines as to minimum specs i think... 1gb ram may not go beyond loading marshmallow.. 2gb is the minimum requirement.. However most of the entry level phones have only 1gb even now... I'm not sure of removable batt.. Nokia ditched it long ago with n8.. Btw my n8 is still working without significant battery life deterioration..I'm more interested in what Nokia will do with the ui

viveksubhash, 30 Dec 2016with both the current smartphone kings getting rid of 3.5mm... moreI dont understand this either why people prefer usb port over 3.5mm jack with the jack you can play music and charge your phone at the same time you can connect it to your cars sound system bluetooth drain precious battery.

viveksubhash, 30 Dec 2016with both the current smartphone kings getting rid of 3.5mm... more3.5mm jack is not enough, just like removable battery in LG's wasn't enough. They need to do better than that. Keep those "features", but make the battery big enough, add 2 sim slots with dedicated sd slot, don't make any phones with 1 GB RAM (It's already 2017, it's just not acceptable and not justified), don't put overheating CPUs, maybe even add stereo speakers.

I'd buy such a phone and not care about bullshit specs like benchmarks, ppi (As long as it's Full HD) or even RAM (As long as it's at least 3GB for a flagship and 2 GB for lower end).

with both the current smartphone kings getting rid of 3.5mm jack..its probably the best time for upcoming nokia phones if they stick to the trusty 3.5mm....and i don't really understand why some of the readers here prefer the usb port..its one of the most flimsiest ports available, especially compared to the sturdy audio jack

LOL, and of course those will be "free". Well you'll have to pay more, but it will only be because the phone is more "premium", right?
