When connected to monitor, the phone only need to send digital signals which won't drain your battery life drastically compared to cast screen via wifi.

It's good, but I'd love Microsoft's idea to bring full blown Windows to phone better. If they can manage the heat, battery and storage issues; probably I won't need android anymore.

I presume Samsung's idea is just to extend the display and the extended display's UI will be made different (desktop like GUI). Lag is unlikely with upcoming H/W spec. The issue is whether we drown to this gimmick or not. Some will just try it few times then boring and some will just ignore it. It's a phone after all.

AnonD-404798, 03 Jan 2017''Last year's exynos was faster than most laptop chips'' ... moreYou sound absurd. Most laptops run low end i3s, Exynos 8890 blows them out of the water. There is no debate there (just look Geekbench 4 and Linux tests)

Have you paying attention to the yearly 40% performance increase on mobiles or you have moved under a rock in 2007.

As long as powerful smartphones are as expensive as they are approaching $1000 then it makes sense to save also having a standalone PC/Mac/Chrome box. As powerful as smartphone are nowadays then perhaps the smartphone will run ChromeOS or Andromeda (=ChromeOS+Android) on the external monitor with keyboard and mouse simultaneously with Android on the smartphones internal display. But - it must be hassle free taking no more than just placing the phone in a dock to make the external monitor come alive seconds later.

AnonD-404798, 02 Jan 2017it's gonna lag for sureLast year's exynos was faster than most laptop chips, so there's certainly will be horsepower. If it is to lag it would be down to software inefficiencies...

Having said that it would be useless with no windows support. I would had dug it if Microsoft could sell licences to Samsung to boot Windows when in PC mode (full Windows with x86 app support).
