Google is the best..maybe 2% of the smartphones on Android are running on Nougat world wide...so good for you Google.Keep it to yourself!...Yeah I know that there are many more manufacturers that are making smartphones on Android compared with Apple which are making the hardware and the software for their phones..but i don't care...upgrade rate on Android is a joke!

Earlier version will get iOS 10 lite

yeah right i have an ipad pro and it still freezes over like greenland in winter, it was supposed to be fixed...i'd rather have a working older firmwire rather than a brand new device that stutters 5 min..

nkwama, 06 Jan 2017Said a man with Xiaomi phoneActually, I respect for Xiaomi now.
I have the old cheap Redmi 1S, and although it is still on KitKat, Xiaomi is giving it security updates on MiUI 8. That's more important nowadays than the actual Android version. Considering this is the lowest end device for Xiaomi, it is quite amazing. They don't have to do this since most other companies are abandoning their non-flagship devices quicker than you can slide your credit card. So kudos to Xiaomi.

Herodroid, 06 Jan 2017now android newbies start complaining... blame your oem for... moreDepends.
Google only guarantee updates on their devices for 2 years from launch date.
Resorting to custom ROM is not a foolproof plan. Not all devices have active volunteers compiling specific ROMs for them. Most are not completely bug-free, and most devs abandon their projects for newer version of Android, leaving bugs aplenty.

Herodroid, 06 Jan 2017now android newbies start complaining... blame your oem for... moreActually, I'm not crying. Although iOS gets faster and to most Apple devices, is it less superior and considered crap near Android, so I'm happy. Plus, my Huawei P9 is getting Android 7.0 Nougat soon :)

Not bad at all. If only they can fix breaking older devices.

I wonder how many Android devices run MM or N.... they must do something about it, it's not only fragmentation, it's the update/support/security patches that are just not reaching the user because of the way Google designed the whole thing. I wait and wait and wait for the N update on my GS7 and nobody even gives me a clear date. It's beginning/end of the year, it's the first quarter, it's .... c'mon I'm really getting fed up with the way G is handling this. Do a decent OS that can be updated OTA directly at least with the security patches, regardless of the skin I'm running.... stop copying apple - and drop the overpriced Pixel, I want Nexus back in the game.

now android newbies start complaining... blame your oem for not updating your phone. google updates their devices. also if you are not noob, you can custom rom to flash latest android...
