Upgrade crap to crap, 11 Jan 2017Oh yeah how genius! And replace the CPU with the faster ... moreIf I wanted a better machine than the macbook pro 15, I would buy the razer blade 2016. Costs 1000$ less and is a much more powerful machine.

Also, there is no point getting a QHD screen on laptops. A good quality 1080p is more than enough.

Celluloid, 11 Jan 2017Thank you! This is exactly what I was thinking! How can A... moreI agree also. It's like Apple is complaining that software tricks that don't really have to do with raw battery life are part of battery life. I mean, I can turn my computer off and save battery charge that why; if I call that the "default" behavior of my laptop does that mean it has near infinite battery life?

What's really surprising though is that Consumer Reports knuckled under and gave Apple special treatment. That seems to go completely counter to their claims to be independent. I guess no one can avoid the spell of Apple and its marketing manipulations.

I've read other reviews complaining about battery-life for different scenarios.
So I don't think it's one issue only.

How can Apple claim the tests are invalid due to an obscure setting and then turn around and act like cycling through a limited number of websites is regular behavior?! Of course caching has to be turned off for this test. Either that or add thousands of different sites for the test to visit.

When a product is released it is tested then. If you released it with bugs that is your fault. Reviewers don't go back to products once they review it. Apple expects them to.

This just looks like BS. A caching issue...causing a battery life drop in excess of 10 hours? That is insanity. The only way that would cause that much of a problem would be if safari held the CPU and GPU hostage, taxing them to >90% usage when loading "icons". To me that is a more concerning issue...if a web browser that shouldn't tax the system, starts utilizing more resources than a game, art program, or CAD...id immediately get rid of it in favor of a different browser, and sweep my computer for malware. I think that "bug" fix is much more that apple doesn't want to admit to.

This current one is the biggest load of crap ever and they bloody know it! I'll never buy the new one! I've already gone and bought two spare brand new battery's and a 1TB hard drive for my 2015 model to make sure it will stand the test of time!
