The non cache settings are enable by the Consumer Report to simulate a user browsing non cached websites. The same behavior is meet as the user browse new websites or those that have not been visited recently for some time.
So the tests the Consumer Report association run, are correct.

And replace the CPU with the faster ... moreOr you can match the Macbook pricing and instead get a Precision with mobile Xeon processor and have a real set of function keys. Bonus points if you get the Ubuntu version with an updated userland instead of the dying macOS which is bleeding market share faster than Internet Explorer.

Anonymous, 11 Jan 2017Apple says, "hey that's not fair?! You're clearing the cach... moreThey did not say it wasn't fair, they just said they found out why the results were having so much variance. Even CR were perplexed by the results, which is why they are also cooperating with Apple to resolve the issue. Just one of those things, but if hating is your cup of tea, whatever makes you happy (or unhappy).

Upgrade crap to crap, 11 Jan 2017Oh yeah how genius! And replace the CPU with the faster ... moreHe said RAM and Storage can be upgraded. What are babling about battery, display, and CPU anyway. It is true you can easily swap or add a SSD on top of a HDD storage because many PCs nowadays are that easy to upgrade.

Apple says, "hey that's not fair?! You're clearing the cache!". Even though all laptops were tested that way. I thought Macbooks and Mac OS were "o-p-t-i-m-i-z-e-d"?

Boldy, 11 Jan 2017Put 125$ in and replace the HDD with a 500 GB SSD. Problem ... moreOh yeah how genius!

And replace the CPU with the faster core i5 base.
And replace the FHD screen with a QHD screen.
And replace the shell with a thinner and stronger chassis.
And replace the battery with an expanded battery.
And shave off the extra weight.

Or.. you could be looking at the XPS 15 or Alienware, and you can do the same process again, to match the specs of the base entry macbook pro 15.

For more than half lesser the price of this piece of overpriced garbage starting at $700, you can buy a New Dell Insipiron 15 7000 that has a more powerful entry level GeForce GTX 1050 TI card and latest Intel i7 7700HQ with all the necessary ports intact and is built nicely. Even the previous generation GeForce GTX 965M card can beat it.

That still doesn't explain why people worldwide have the exact same problem.

"Not a bug but a feature" is the only thing Apple can use to speak for their products.

What a joke. Even the first two years with iPhone Apple wasn't this complacent.

Now one has to wonder if Apple would ever find/fix the error if it wasn't for Consumer Report bashing. I would bet on NO.

Apple panicked and struggled to find a culprit, and they found out that their browser (pretty lame browser) might be a great culprit. Give it up. An icon loading can't suck 16 hours of battery. Not even 8.
