Megalord, 29 Jan 2011Sigh.... read this...
http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_optimus_2... moreWhoops, silly me.
"I have already seen prototypes of phones with HDMI long before N8 is launched, and they are running android"
could you state some of those models pls. and it is just a prototype. How the hell would that public know bout that. The n8 did introduced it first to the public. Sort of like a 'first move'
"For what you have mentioned, they are kinda easily available on other smartphones as well"
Urrm...where else can you find HDMI, USB OTG, Ovi maps, etc on any other phones on the current market?
"720P looks horrible on HDTV"
doesnt look too horrible to me 0_o

Megalord, 29 Jan 2011Oh really? I didn't know the N93 has better photo quality c... moreI said N93 has better camera than any known "Android phone" (neva knew the N8 and i8910 were Android phones). If ye made real-life, side-by-side photo comparison between it and the Xperia X10(supposedly best Android cameraphone) ye would know. And please, view the pictures on an LCD screen coz the N93s screen looks lame nxt to the Xperia. And yeah, the N82 is overkill fer any known Android phone today. The reason I assumed ye a fanboy is because ye just attempted te dethrone the N8 of its BEST CAMERA PHONE title and hand it te an ANDROID-RUNNING Altek Leo that ye hav no prior physical experience with. If that aint fanboyism, then the term itself myt as wel seize te exist

Do you actually use 50 downloaded applications?
Would you mind listing which they are?

There are too many good and free apps to list, and considering that i have listed them before, i suggest you to search for them. And in any forums, there are easily a few hundred apps many find useful. Don't be lazy, go find and read them.

Theres mirroring on the Optimus 2X as well... And this is only the first from android. There are tonnes of other dual core android phones coming that probably incorporate more...
Hmph, did N8 start it? I have already seen prototypes of phones with HDMI long before N8 is launched, and they are running android. Thus, i have reservations if N8 started it.
I have no doubts that N8 is a good phone but when one claims that it is the best in a certain feature, i hope these guys know what they are saying.

I have tried more than 400 android free apps to date, and i found more than 50 quality ones that are very useful. Don't assume that others didn't realize the potential of a smartphone like you do."
400... I know that for some buyers dowloading applications is a hobby, like a mobile videogame. It is important for them, no doupt. Their needs are well respected.
When i wrote useful, i didn't mean in general. There might easily be 50 useful Aps. But do you use them all? If you do, could you make a list? Just out of curiosity...

Will you highlight what makes N8 so powerful out of the box which is unavailable on other smartphones? They can message, play videos, make calls, have integrated GPS, video/caemra functions... How different are the basic capabilities?
Anyway, many apps are free, no harm getting them.

Megalord, 29 Jan 2011First thing you gotta know about the N8 HDMI. Its 720P, its... moreOutput applications? How can that be? Since HDMI on androids is only for media.
Yeah optical zoom beats digital zoom anytime (same like xenon vs led). But then again, the n8 digital zoom is pretty incredible. there seems to be no loss of details even when zoomed to the maximum. A drawback is that it wont zoom far. About like 25m from your position tops.
im actually pretty happy to see future phones will have 1080p output (minus SE Arc of course). But it was the n8 that started it all, just like how the iphone started the touch screen and mobile app boom. There is no stopping mobile phone technology :)

And btw, stop calling others android fanboy, especially when i am not carrying an android phone. Im using Windows XP Embedded and iOS right now. I don't worship any phone manufacturer for your information. I only add information when i see rubbish posts.

adkane, 29 Jan 2011But they dont offer HDMI mirroring like what the n8 is doin... moreFirst thing you gotta know about the N8 HDMI. Its 720P, its not 1080P.
LG Optimus 2X can accept a 1080P HDMI input to record it in 1080P format, or output video or applications through HDMI in 1080P.
Its nuts to record in 720P to watch your videos in the phone. D1 will do. Its nuts to view 12MP photos on the phone too. Isn't it taken for granted that when we take 1080P videos or anything more than 5MP, that we will view it on a computer or full HD TV? In this case i will take the 1080P anytime. But do note that the N8 can only output 720P, not 1080P through the HDMI interface.
Altek Leo? Nevermind the sensor size, read carefully. Its using optical zoom.

The n8 can do a lot out of the box IMHO. Same goes with some high end android phones. The saddest however is the iphone.
yeah you do need SOME apps for your phone to enhance the user experience. But to have to download a number of apps just to make your phone barely usable (iphone in this case) is simply bullshit to me

What is the sensor size of the 14mp Altek Leo btw?
720p and 1080p wont not make such a noticeable difference on a phone screen, unless however you view it on a 1080p HD tv
