ZTE becomes world's 4th largest manufacturer, Android is top OS

31 January, 2011
Last week we did a quick overview of the big players on the mobile market, but it turns out we missed a pretty big one. We thought ZTE isn't a major player in Europe and North America, but the IDC report...

Nokia is seriously considering abandoning MeeGo and join Android! Android is evolving so fast that the day MeeGo eventually reach customers then Andriod will be able to do more than MeeGo.
N9, or N10, will probably have Android.

[deleted post]Android is bigger than Symbian! :)
The day MeeGo is released, the fast evolving Ansroid already will be able to do more than MeeGo-fans dream MeeGo will be able to do. Nokua is actuakly seriously considering abandoning MeeGo and join the fast growing and evolving Android-world. N9, or N10, will probably have Android, and then I will consider buying a phone from Nokia again. :)

They are busy with the ui behind the scenes now. They have also held it back from others and will only be viewed again on release. This hints at a possible release at mwc or ready for inclusion in a possible phone at mwc. They are giving no info away so speculations can fly at this point cos nobody knows what they are up to and that includes the developers too.

[deleted post]We will see who is dumba and moro by the end of the year. Did you know that Nokia pulled off Meego from the developers, and they are in discussion with Microsoft to have a WP7(only 2 million licences sold so far, lol) phone. If Nokia would be smart will go for Android, the best phone OS by customer vote. Heck, even I might buy a Nokia in that case.

pretty arrogant of you to judge symbian wholly by just using s60v3 (which is still the best non-touch OS to date).

Android is on top because it has like a 100+ manufacturers.
As long as Google keep it updated it will probably dominate the arena for years to come.
If Microsoft "opens up" WP7 (makes it widely available to more producers) , it would probably be the Android's biggest rival.

iOS would always have supporters, no matter what.

Meego has great potential. BUT Nokia should somehow find a way to use it in low/mid-range devices to increase its user-base.

RIM and others can go to hell.
