Exclusive: Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus dimensions show compact phones with huge screens

16 January 2017
The Galaxy S8 should be about the size of the current S7 but with a screen bigger than the S7 edge.

Samsung S8 might do wonders for the company after what the previous Samsung phone did. It damaged its reputation quite a lot. I'm sure Samsung can come back strongly in the US markets.

      I dont know why manufacturers go for bezel less design.
      Ergonomics wise it is a huge compromise. Will have hard time holding the mobile.

        Anonymous, 16 Jan 2017Where's the foldable phone Samsung has promised since 2012Because nobody can make the plastic foldable screen as unscratched, shiny and exquisite as glass.

          The screens are also still 16:9. Which is personally love. Yes the phones are a little wide, but the height is great and screen reach with one hand should be fantastic even with the width because of the curved edge not being used in normal use.

          I took the image into illustrator and drew a box over the S7 screen, moved it over the S8 and resized it while restraining proportions. It is only a little short, but this is because of the edges being curved, meaning the screen is actually a little wider. If I had bothered to use the other image also I could have scaled from the S7 edge to the S8. I lot of people will hate the "wasted space" to on screen buttons, but myself I find aything taller hard to use for screens larger than 5". That includes my current 5.1" phone with seperate buttons. Including the buttons it's taller than a 5.5" screen with on screen buttons. Not good for reach!

            6.3'' = 160mm

            152.38mm x 78.5mm gives a diagonal of 171.4mm

            Which means there's plenty of room, with space for almost a 6mm bezel top and bottom.

            Look up hypotenuse sometime...

                            At these dimensions Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus(152.38 x 78.51 x 7.94mm) is impossible to have 6.3". Who wrote this article is completely stupid.

                                No option for the edge, balls. I won't be buying. I'll just stick to the s7 so I don't have to have the curved screen. It's worthless.

The most bezel heavy phone Samsung ever created lately, same amount of RAM despite being the most important thing in androids, hardly better battery.

                                      If it was to be topped by S6 in having bad direction (they removed the removable battery and sdcard, that was a cray cray move) ... s5 would be thought as the worst galaxy ever.

                                      S7 was the first good galaxy after some time, and s8 would probably top that too. So you're comparing one of the weakest S phones with one of the best S phones, they would obviously be such big discrepancies (in many things, not just how bad S5 was at using the volume efficiently).
