That's how we know the new kryo 280 is a completely different arch (by looking at the subtest scores).
What I'm a bit disappointed about is that whatever tweaks they made to the arm reference core don't seem to have improved perf much (relative to the kirin 960/a73) but they may have been focused on integrating the core with their other IP rather than focusing on core perf. If that's the case we'd better see two things: a much more efficient system when stressing the CPU and a better utilized soc when their IP (spectra/hexagon/adreno/aqstic) is being used in conjunction with the new core.

And also the incompetency of GB to maximize all cores of SoC makes quad, hexa, octa and even deca pathetic in multi-core result.

Use a system monitoring tools and you will see GB hardly reaches 100% in CPU utilization in 1st core and 50-70% on 2nd core. The rest of the cores are plain useless and just spiking between 5-10% only.

Fix GB and I bet these Android SoC will muster at least 8-10K in MC result.

AnonD-523334, 17 Jan 2017Mangoos cores were clocked at 2.6ghz and kyro 2.15 ghz but ... moreYou either have no clue what you are talking about or are trolling.

Kryo is not based on A72 at all. It's a custom core design. Kryo also has a lower IPC than A72 and uses 50% more power than a A72 core. Mongoose runs 2.6ghz when 1 or 2 big cores are active or 2.3ghz when 3-4 big cores are active.

Kryo is the single core loser of 2016 it has lower IPC than A72/Mongoose. Geekbench 3 did not scale to industry standard SPEC testing. Geekbench 4 scales the scores similar to SPEC which is why the scores changed and Kryo was showed to be slower due to the more accurate testing.

They should have made a special dual Kryo cores clocked at 2.8-3GHz and I bet it will score 3K+ SC and 5K+ MC. Geekbench is a worthless app for big.Little SoC.

And it got 1950 on geekbench 4 single core, while kryo cores got close to 1550. And again, you're wrong. Kryo cores in the sd820 are custom cores. But a few months ago ARM released a new license coined the "Built on ARM Cortex Technology" license, and the sd835 is using this license, which means the new kyro cores will use the same microarchitecture as a73 cores for the most part.

Clearly, you don't know anything at all and are completely clueless. Somehow you think that the worst performing flagship chipset is the best. So let's stop there, there's no point speaking to people like you who don't know how to communicate and think they're always right.

To every one who thinks that the scores are low, the SoC is clocked @1.9ghz.
While officially QC has mentioned it can go upto 2.45ghz
The actual 835 will be much faster.

Geekbench is cheating. They are showing a much lower score than the real one for qualcomm's SoC. We have two known benchmark apps, Antutu and Geekbench. It is often said "the CEO of xiaomi and antutu are ...so antutu is cheating and geekbench is the only trusty benchmark app" but it's not true.

Think about exynos7420 and SD810 , they have exactly the same architecture and almost the same clock speed, and Antutu showed nearly the same scores for these two SoCs which is natural, but Geekbench showed a much lower score for SD810 which is really strange.

You can also compare SD615~626 and MT6750~6757, you will find that geekbench is always showing a lower score for Qualcomm's SoCs.

So we can say that Antutu is showing the real score and SD835 is gonna be a real "beast".
