They didn't change anything on the body, they just changed the color of the screen's surroundings... It's just a new front panel, they wouldn't change everything, it's too costly

Xiaomi trimmed the bezels (visible +black border) to the amount of black border so black borders are gone. ex. If there was 2mm black border on all 4 sides of screen and then 2mm on left and right and 15mm top and bottom leading to 4,4,17,17mm, now 2mm is removed from all sides and 2,2,15,15 mm bezel no black border.
Just for those who are complaining about black border.

Behind the screen there is the main circuit board and the battery, behind the upper bezel there is a speaker, camera lenses (front and back camera), light and proximity sensors, microphones, an LED and often a headphone port. Behind the lower bezel there is another microphone (sometimes 2 Microphones), mono or stereo speakers, display controls and often a fingerprintscanner and/or buttons.
You see there's a lot to hide in that bezels. There is the mi mix which doesnt use usual setup but has a wider lower bezel to fit in most stuff form the upper bezel. Also it's more expensive. You can't expect entry-level phone to come up with such tricks with a price THAT low!

Strange that the official redmi 4 poster have no black border but the one the sell have these black border. Now, they remake it without the border. Xiaomi, what are doing? Confusing customers. If I didnt know better I would have thought one of it as fake xiaomi phone.

The reason is simple , Redmi series is younger than Mi series, so obviously it would be 1 number less (actually it should have been two, but Xiaomi releases redmis more frequently).
Redmis are basically the budget version of Mis, so no their current number is not the same as Mis and better never be...

Mi is the flagship series
So Mi has got its 5, 5s, etc.
While one the other hand, Redmi has got upto its 4
So Mi5 is their latest flagship
Redmi 4 is their latest budget device
They have few other series like-
1) Redmi Note (just like it sounds, is the bigger screen series of budget phones)
2) Mi Note (bigger screen series of flagship Mi)
So well, its not that confusing if u get the basics.. Samsung, Lenovo, Asus are far crazy with naming conventions..

AnonD-40493, 18 Jan 2017Good, now fix your shitty microphones. I think Xiaomi quietly fix small issues with newer batches (like Samsung with the stuck S-Pen in the Note5).
I know there were a lot of complaints about the Xiaomi Mi5 microphone (and I've watched youtube videos about it, it was atrocious) but I recently bought one myself and the first thing everbody says when I call is "Wow, I can finally hear you so clearly!". I'm coming from a Samsung Galaxy S5. And I did record audio with it, it's clear.

From the picture abobe, it looks like the black border is reduced, but the white on the side is wider, so I'm not so sure that the distance from the side of the actual screent to the side of the phone is smaller....
