It is impossible for Sony to use AMOLED because it is Samsung tech, even if they might switch to OLED tech, it will be JOLED. Same goes to Apple, they will invent their new OLED tech and won't use the AMOLED. Any brand that use the AMOLED need to pay the patriot fees.

What I want is QHD (what in the world is that WQHD?) Super AMOLED Plus displays. The efficiency of AMOLED, not the pain of PenTile. The colors and the dark without the side effects.

1440x2560 is QHD, there is nothing "[W]ide" about it, it is ordinary 16:9, twice plain HD in both direction, hence the "[Q]uad"
You COULD call 4096x2160 (4K) for WQFHD, as it is wider than ordinary QFHD (aka UHD) 3840x2160.

Pretty good news. Might be as good as amoled visually and possibly last longer without burn in, well on some anyway

Once Jdi has acquired Joled, then they will become the next leader in oled. Jdi (Sony, Hitachi, Toshiba, Renesas (a Japanese semiconductor manufacturer), and Incj ( a funding subsidiary company). While Joled was established by Sony and Panasonic. Too bad that Jdi couldn't acquire Sharp.

Have you even read the full article? Why you so pissed off about the resolution of the screen when it's not even the main improvement in it. "Reduced power consumption, thinner borders, deeper black levels, etc." That's what I meant by "achievement".

Only the Z and Z1, and Z1 Compact used TFT, but Z2 used high quality LCD, and it even got better with the Z3, and now it's at it's peak with the X series. The XZ's display is stunning if you ever see one in reality, I'm telling you. Alcatel has better screen? Haha where did you get that joke from?
