20 January 2017
Also, is that the Bixby button on the left? Because the power button is on the right.

Oh boy! I can't wait till the apple fans complain about how the S8 has dual cameras like the 7 plus!

Looks like 2:1 aspect ratio might be real. Ah.... not a fan of that. 17:9 seems like the best compromise to me, 2:1 would be extremely hard to access the notifications and press the nav buttons without using two hands.

No stereo speakers on the plus edition would be a huge mistake and will probably keep me away from Samsung (again).

And 1080p is what is just a hair off of 2k.

Anonymous, 20 Jan 2017The 2:1 aspect ratio persists in all latest rumours. That m... moreBut don't you think that this IS a 17:9 ratio? The average phone (like the S7) is 16:9, the Xiaomi Mi MIX bumped this up to 17:9 to eliminate the bezels and still keep the phone looking tall (the extra space that was added is used up by the navigation buttons, very much alike the ones S8 will have due to no physical ones). A ratio of 18:9 would be 2:1, but the screen doesn't really look that tall, take in mind that the curved edges take off a lot of the width, so a 17:9 display could easily look like 18:9 (2:1). Only manufacturer to ever mention a 2:1 screen is LG when they purposefully leaked their own phone (to generate buzz over a phone nobody hears or cares about), and they have no curved edges, meaning it is very close to the S8 with curved edges

The 2:1 aspect ratio persists in all latest rumours. That means no 4K ... I don't get it.

Samsung was one of the first to push VR on phones and does nothing to actually make it better in a tangible way. 4K phone screen would mean finally supporting 1080p movies natively in VR (among other other things), also being twice (in both dimensions) compared to 2K it would (also) mean that Samsung could run it 2K in everything other photos, movies and VR ... thus saving on battery and GPU power all the while retaining an almost -as- crisp image in everything else.

And before anyone asks, the industry/professional standard of 4K is 4096x2160 which roughly translate to a 17:9 aspect ratio. Any other ratio implies a custom resolution and most certainly not 4K (probably something closer to QHD)

From a customer side, I find it kind of funny that Samsung asked its workers not to leak anything about upcoming flagship but nevertheless we've been flooded with various kinds of rumors during these several months. Oh, yeah, and internal letter to the workers was leaked too, ahahah!
