Weekly poll: what do you think of Samsung Galaxy S8's screen size?

22 January 2017
Based on schematics, the Galaxy S8 will have a bigger screen than the S7 edge, the S8 Plus will top the Note7.

Sort by:

6.3" screen is just an overkill even for a bezel less design. 5.5/5.7" screen is enough as Samsung decided to use curved screen only as per rumours, instead of flat, so 5.5-5.7" screens are enough.

I dont mind a bit bigger screen but if it comes with the extra weight then to me its too big. When you say the sweet spot is around 5.5" id say that has to come with a maximum weight of no more than around 150g. Anything more and it feels like your walking around with a house brick in your pocket. Samsung managed it with the S6 edge+ keeping its weight to slightly over 150g.
There is also a massive market out there waiting for a sub 5" screen phone but with flagship specs. I will be glad when the screen size war is over and all the makers start thinking more practical.

I voted for 5.7" but it's important to say that I chose that size assuming the surfacing renders(while a little different but all say that S8 will have really small bezels) are real. if bezel size remains normal in reality then a smaller screen is good. And I'm not a big fan of curved screen.

I think is ridiculous the sizes of the phones today. I'm still wishing for a S mini variant. I own the S7 and I think is a bit bigger than what a phone should be. Depending on what will happen with the S8, I might go to Apple. But what I really wish is a 4.7" bezeless Galaxy S8

I don't mind the screen size, I mind the whole phone size, so if they increase the screen size but not the phone size (small bezels), than I am OK with it.

well i dont mind that the phone (eny phone for that mater) has a big screen.
what i mind is , the physical size of the device.
if it has an big a.... screen don't make the phone long, wide and extremely thin, its too damn hard to operate with one hand. Add glas to that or eny other slipery coating....NO.
The vanilla S 7 is managenable , but more thickness would do wonders.

The bigger, the better. Just not with Touchwiz. With Touchwiz, every phone would suck, no matter the hardware or screen size.

                                        Here's what I think:

It sucks. What might have brought me back into the Samsung fold (bigger screens with smaller bezels) is ruined by the utterly pointless and impractical curved display.

I liken curved displays to wireless charging. They're gimmicks for people who feel that their "hi-tech" gear makes them uber hip and trendy.

Even self-proclaimed curved-screen detractors say things like "it doesn't do anything other make the phone look nice".

You mean, you actually like that annoying glare and warping at the edges of your display? Or do you mean that it makes the phone look nice when the screen is off and you have it out of a case? (Which, BTW, is something you should never do with a curved display since they're so incredibly breakable)

Don't even get me started on what curved displays have done to the screen protector market. THANKS DUMB MASSES!
