Ok, the update is not what we were expecting, what´s strange is people complaining about capabilities that symbian doesn´t have when compared with other plataforms. Let´s be clear there´s noyhing android, Ios, or Wp7 can do that symbian can´t (other than full flash support), they might do it fancier but symbian (specially symbian 3) get´s the job done.
Of course there´s a lot of work to be done in symbian, but still there´s nothing you can do with android that you can´t do with symbian (user experience might be better in android depending on your background).
So, if you want to complain about the limited the update is go ahead, but to say iPhone, android cando this or that is pointless, because whatever android (which I think is a great os) can do, symbian can do it too.
And yes I want portrait keyboard and a decent browser with flash support, but that doesn´t mean that I will rade my N8 for another phone, because its pros overcome by far its cons.

[deleted post]It's rather funny how every web site that states the obvious about Nokia and it's Symbian OS are labelled bias. Like they said Symbian OS is Boring, that's why most manufacturers have switched to Android i.e Samsung, LG, SonyEriccson etc.

When are they going to update the Video Editor. I am constantly having to use my N95 editor to create intersting movies but lose the 720p in the conversion.N8 Editor will not allow mixing of sound tracks (music mixed with original sound)and most stupid of all, I can't even retitle my new creation. Nokia are really giving me the shits with their beligerant stubborn stupidity

Guys....its 1.1. Seriously? all this over a smallish update? 2.0 is the biggie. Honestly, lets put it in perspective ...since ive owned the N8 (2 weeks after its launch) here in Australia,i have had 2 or 3 app updates (cant exatly remember) which made the phone snappier and apps run better,an fantastic ovi map update,a few social app updates,a ovi store update and now 1.1 is rolling out. How can people winge about nokia not supporting its software when we have had all of that??? So what if its not a huge almighty update..the bigger ones are coming. From what ive been reading elsewhere, this update will also make the phone even snappier and quicker...sounds to me like nokia is getting the phone ready for something awsome!

I have a Samsung Galaxy S and with a normal usage (about 1 o 2 hs 3G, some WiFi, about 10 calls and few message per day) it last me about 65hs. About your friends android-phones, sure that they have all day 3g enabled, GPS, Bluetooth and with max bright and the display always on, because its near imposible to need about 3 charges a day :S

That's why I gave up on nokia completely. They've got it into their heads that they can do anything and people will still buy because, hey : it's a nokia. That used to mean something in the years of the N95. Now?...not so much

And you have a choice of thousands of applications. which can do almost anything.
                              Nokia ovi market is small.

I'm Not Anti-Nokia, really I'm not. I have owned a number of Symbian phones in my lifetime, but got annoyed with their updates. The N95 eventually became a brilliant phone, but after many months.

Looking at people who own the N8, I can see why they are frustrated.

You simply CAN'T disregard Apps. They make a smartphone do more than it originally was designed to do.

Symbian is the worst OS IMHO, I hope nokia at least starts to make par phones. Samsung, Sony Ericsson and even Motorola are light years ahead.

Even if people don't like Nokia phones too much, the company deserves at least respect. Nokia didn't become the largest phone manufacter without reason, just like Apple started to popularize the touchscreen phones, Nokia did so many things that completelly change the mobile industry, bluetooth, internal atennas, color displays, cameras where introduced by Nokia, not to mention that Symbian was the system that made smartphones more popular. And N95 was the first all-in-one smartphone.
So maybe Nokia is not that good now, but deserves respect from everyone.

Why is Andriod so popular? I don't understand why. All my friends that own one has to bring their chargers with them. They charge it 3 times a day. It's fast cause the battery only last 4 hours of heavy usage. I can go 8 hours listening to music straight on my n8 and can go 4 more of regular usage. I really don't need 50,000 useless apps. And talk about the browser. It does what it needs to. Check a few websites a day that works fine for me. Sure it would be nice to have a Web Browser update but I really don't like browsing the web on any phone with a 3 inch screen. That's what my home/work pc is for.
