I updated a dell streak to 2.2 last week. I work in a uk phone shop. Had to factory reset the data. Then go to upgrade. It asks you to download a backup app from the android market, once that is complete you can move on to the update.

AOSP 2.3.2 is even in the works by CyanogenMod team (there's an alpha available now).

Hopefully Samsung will update its Galaxy S line to Froyo by the end of February (Sprint Epic 4g.)

The Dell Streak may ship with android 1.* but has been updated to Froyo for some time. Run a system update and you will see for yourself.

Well this is somewhat good news, I recently picked up a Dell Streak and it's still running on 1.5 cupcake. The Dell Streak is great but it needs a software update ASAP!!!!

Symbian has more users cause their phones are cheap not like android. And symbian os are easy to use which i dont like. U can buy n8 here for just $280

I had Apple iPhone 2 weeks ago it was cool but,i bought HTC now and it's very fast and cool and i think Android OS is better than iOS ....btw Android will hit this year and Android Will be most sold smartphones on the Market....Buy Phones with Android OS you won't have to buy phones with other Softwares !!!!:)

2.2 was made available when 2.1 reached 55% of total consumers.. and now we have 2.2 hitting 57%... so the numbers basically tell it's time for 2.3 to be unleashed!

Reason androids market share is growing so fast is because its cheap tack manufacturers can wack on any phone. Don't get me wrong the top end Android Smartphones I love.
But when you get any rubbish with android just slung in there because it eases the manufacturer developing an OS.
