Also, what's that about "Nokia Windows devices"? We thought that was Microsoft's burden.

Last year, Microsoft divested its mobile devices division (Nokia Devices Business) as CEO Satya Nadela wants to focus on cloud services. This Nokia Devices business was then sold to HMD Global (a Finnish Company) who now owns the design patents and the Nokia brand.

Therefore, the phone business is back to Finland. Though the parent company-Nokia has no investments in HMD Global but still it provides patents and has a seat in the board. The parent Nokia sets mandatory design and manufacturing requirements for the new Nokia Android devices.

tonymancs, 24 Jan 2017You can read right?wikipedia says:

HMD Global is a Finnish company that develops mobile devices under the "Nokia" brand name. It was formed in May 2016 announcing its purchase of part of Microsoft Mobile's feature phone business, the successor of Nokia's mobile phone business, and a licensing agreement. The sale was completed in December 2016.[1] It is headed by CEO Arto Nummela and is headquartered in Espoo near Helsinki, in front of Nokia's headquarters.

HMD is made up of veteran Nokia staff, and develops basic feature phones, as well as smartphones and tablets running on the Android platform. Manufacturing and distribution is performed by Foxconn's FIH Mobile division.

Nokia itself DOES NOT directly invest in HMD but has a board member representative, sets mandatory requirements, and RECEIVES ROYALTY PAYMENTS FOR PATENTS.

Well, seems nothing can be done since you are still sprouting nonsenses without any proves. You ignore me, facts and you are being delusional. Read my post in previous Gsmarena link. Over 1000 people from former Microsoft mobile lost their job in Finland. Those people made Lumia phones. 4500 in Vietnam, China and India. All of them got option to join HMD or FIH. Gone with your lies of HMD without Nokia engineers and devs and FIH without old Nokia workers. If this not gonna help you, cheers.

I'll just copy paste my conclusion of that post here- go to this page to read it all

                                      http://www.gsmarena.com/newscomm-22843.php

TL;DR HMD is a Nokia's puppet, Foxconn pays for all the fun because they don't want to relay entirely on Apple and is looking for an another new, big company to assemble phones for. Nothing weird in this cooperation since Foxconn has already manufactured Nokia N1 tablet in 2014- first Nokia device since its Mobile Division has gone to Microsoft. Bigger bussiness bigger fun.

And why Foxconn chose partnership with Nokia (HMD)?
Because it's partnership with Apple is not as profitable as before. Especially since it has lost contract to make Apple phones in India to its rival Wistron.

                                      http://www.forbes.com/sites/timworstall/2016/12/30/apple-to-start-manufacturing-in-india-reports-of-plant-in-bengalaru/#505dca09558f

Foxconn know it margins. They assemble phones, not develope them. Lost opportunity in India was the last drop in the glass that showed their decision to start partnering with Nokia earlier was right. They may acquired Sharp, but it is to take over LCD display technology and factories. They are not dumb to make own smartphones.
