I don't believe he has had a significan role in the development of Xiaomi. He was just a known face of unknown company. They tried to present their products in a manner of Apple and they needed some one to behave like Steve Jobs. Such approach may inspire indian tech geeks, but for sure no one in China or elsewhere in the world cares.
And perhaps they realized there is no sense to pay huge money to marketing puppet.
Any way, good luck to Hugo.

Bad, but very bad news here since he was the only one who knew how to manage the comunity they had. Xiaomi will lose the only appeal it had.

And maybe this is the moment to depart from Xiaomi too. It will end like Meizu.

Just like another chinese company, Xiaomi must have made Hugo Barra overworked.
Overwork can lead to serious health problems

It was their fault in first place to start race to bottom. Try giving a premium flagship product and price it like one while selling them at stores this worked wonders for the other 2 inspire of having way overpriced products compared to even Samsung like a p10 at 25k and 625 at 28k

                    A sad news to heard.

It's pretty obvious that Xiaomi fired him because of their declining sales - less than Oppo and Vivo.
But I don't think that's fair! Fire him after only one failure?! Forgetting everything that he has done before?!
