Tourettes Guy, 25 Jan 2017Comparing Audi with Toyota is a bad thing to you already, a... moreThe funniest comment of the day goes to you sir. If indians consider Sony as c rap brand why would Sony be the top selling TV company here. You said it has higher resolution cameras. Specs don't even come to such comparison here sir Samsung pretty much wins in everything else. Xz is costlier than s7 edge. You talk about a company that beats blackberry of all companies in market share comparable to Samsung. Sony has a reputation here it's just that it's mobiles are disregarded by customers who have experienced them. Back when Sony launched its first 4 phones then its popularity was prevalent. Later it lost it's plot and is nowhere to be seen here. My friend is a official retailer of Sony phones and guess what he uses an iPhone which by the way has 3% share here and is dumping old products in India for cheap to try increase market share. Sony could do same but by selling midrange high quality phones couldn't it? He said himself that consumers still buy Sony TV but smartphone section is collecting dust. You talked about correcting problems but issue is by the time problems were corrected by Sony consumers already gave their phones back and for your information I'll believe him more than a random guy on internet.

Anonymous, 24 Jan 2017Comparing Audi with Toyota. LoL can't keep your hands off a... moreComparing Audi with Toyota is a bad thing to you already, alright I get it. Fyi I only comment on Samsung news threads that I'm interested in, and it's up to you if you deal with it or not, it's not my loss anyways. What are you even talking about, Sony selling higher priced phones? The Xperia X here is $200 cheaper than the S7 Edge here, and you still get higher resolution rear and front cameras, lol. They stopped selling mid-range phones in India, not because not everyone's going to buy them, but because everyone will hate it even if it's already a perfect phone like Indians have a mindset of Sony being a crap brand. It's just so sad to imagine that a Western country hates their co-Western country as if Sony never did anything right since then. 2-3% market share and they are still existent in the world, unlike others like BlackBerry who only appeared once in a blue moon and now is getting extinct, which Sony is easily beating now. You know what makes Samsung even more of a bad company? Realize how long it took Samsung before they start to care about the safety and quality of their phones. As a big phone brand in the world, shouldn't Samsung be doing their so-called "8-Point Check Test" way before they even started their mobile business? Not saying Sony doesn't have issues, but look how much issues Samsung suffered with, compared to Sony. Xperia Z3+ had overheating issues, and they solved it with a simple update. How much did that cost? Yes, $0. Samsung had to produce, recall, replace the battery, discontinue the Note 7, then give Note 7 users an S7 Edge replacement. Do your math and compute how much does that cost, and now, have they even fixed the problem?

Paying people is nothing short of suicidal strategy. The moment that comes out reputation of Samsung would be further tarnished and after note 7 they can't afford that. Also the investors lose faith in company and disinvestment happens causing company to go bankrupt which in case of Samsung I doubt Will happen but will lead to losses that Will make note 7 seem trivial. The fear itself makes companies not mess with department that does auditing

In Mobile phone there's no such thing. Both sell phones at same price with Sony being a bit costlier in some cases. Is that the reason they stopped selling their mid range phones in India. To isolate people. I wonder what kind of strategic move is this since Sony is probably fighting for market that has 2-3% sales here

Samsung had more sales because they made an impact to the people while Sony isn't, but that doesn't make Samsung the better company. [deleted post]Exactly my point, Samsung only cares about profits not about its customers. Also don't you know anything can be altered these days. Samsung could've payed their auditors to show a surplus, they could have payed gsmarena to say this. There are plenty of people out there who will do anything for a buck. Until I see detailed results and how they earnt their profits which im assuming is from their other sub flagships or whatever they call it..I bought a Samsung washing machine 2 months ago which is the only thing Samsung thank god...guess what it stopped working two days.

pkc2008, 24 Jan 2017Every company goes through the rough patches. Even Sony has... moreYes I know. The Z3+ suffered from overheating issues, and took them with the Z5 series before fixing it. But you know what, instead of discontinuing the phones, Sony worked out hard to provide a fix for it, and yes, they succeeded. Many Xperia Z3+ users running Marshmallow felt the huge improvement in terms of heat management because the device can now record a continuous 40-minute 4K video before overheating, something that Samsung cannot even reach. And what did Samsung do to address the issue? I know that they tried by recalling the units and replace with a better and safer battery, but the issue still exists. After that, they decided to discontinue the phone. Nice and good move, but they just wasted a ton of money for the phone. If we talk about sales, if we combine the price it took to produce the Note 7, recall, battery replacement, and S7 Edge replacement, that's like 1/4 of their total profit. Not an issue for them since they're popular enough and they still have a lot of good phones that people would buy, but still, it's a huge loss. Sony wasted $0 to fix their phones, while Samsung wasted a billion dollars to attempt fixing their phones and still failed. I know it's a software vs hardware difference, but in this case, I wonder if people would still be buying Samsung phones after what happened with the Note 7. Yes a lot will stay, but the majority won't trust Samsung anymore as much as they did before

I judge a phone based on what it is, and simply the S7, S7 Edge, and Note 7 aren't ideal flagships for everyone. I can list down things that makes Samsung's offerings illogical for their prices, but that would be a long one.

If we talk about the Note 7 issue, my point is that why does it have to take the Note 7's disaster before everyone starts to take care of durability and safety of their devices? I mean as a top-tier phone manufacturer, shouldn't Samsung be doing their new 8-Point Test ever since they started their business? The only company that I know that cares about quality is Sony, which is why I'm a huge fan of it, since when I own one, I'll never have to worry about my phone going to kill me or bring damage to others. Like I said, I never hated anything, but I was just being skeptical on every company's moves. Only makes me sad that people fall onto fancy brand names and not the main phone they are worth paying for
