The Snapdragon 835 chipset is fabbed at Samsung facilities.

AnonD-637503, 24 Jan 2017i bet samsung is feeling that Nokia will kill them slowly. LOLWell for that to happen lot of things Nokia does should be the same way they did in thier heydays. It's not Nokia itself manufacturing their phones. Will have to wait and see if HMD can really replicate the same quality of yesteryears Nokia. Samsung is an established leader already and is no pushover for any brand actually. Premium segment became war between Samsung, Apple and Google Pixel. One better option for Nokia is to partner with Google and bring nxt gen Pixels.

Samsung is artificially having "production issues" to keep the number of SD 835 on the market low before the launch of S8 so competitors couldn't release SD 835 powered phones in the March ~ September timeframe. It is one reason big companies like Apple always have multiple suppliers for a part in case someone is trying to play the old hoarding game.

The fourth quarter saw higher market demand for smartphones and tablets on year-end peak seasonality. Samsung kept high sales numbers of the flagship Galaxy S7 and S7 edge as well as improved profitability in the mid-to-low end segment. Profits are there from Mobiles also.

Snapdragon outperforms Exynos in everything, except multi core performance only, and that's just because it has 4 cores. But who cares? Single core performance is much more important.

PLAYER SLAYER, 24 Jan 2017That's still no reason to think of Sony as anything great. ... moreI dont care.
As long as there are more and more people not supporting this crap with their money.
Its been that way a long time...its why Samsung sells most.
Unethical and foul market play....on every level, down to rev sites.

I think they're trying to deliver great products by securing the components they need to do it. Other builders' impact (by the lack of availability) is just a side effect.

Again, in-house chips are always better
                        1) It's your design, you can tweak it as you please
                        2) Undistributed chips can be recycled
                        3) You loose money for development but don't have to pay for royalties. Especially good when you sell your phones in great numbers.

One+ 3/3T is interesting design, showing what can a powerful chipset with a reasonable 1080p display + 6GB RAM can do. But surely it's not fair to compare its performance to heavier opponents with less RAM and higher res display. So in the end I don't think using SD835 will add any value to Samsung phones than Exynos. I hope this news is just a hoax. If not for Samsung then for Nokia- I want to see their flagship with SD 835 on the reveal at MWC.

Number 1 the OP3T has 6 gb of ram so im sure that helped
Number 2 the cpu is only pushing out a 1080p screen the Samsungs have higher resolutions making an impact on the CPU and GPU's do you think if the OP3T was a 1440p display it would get similar scores? No way

Deals like this struck between compan... moreWell, don't forget it is a rumor too, and that Qualcomm would make much more money if they could overprice it to other companies, as Samsung can tell Qualcomm without any regrets that it is too expensive and that the 8895 is much more powerful. What are the other companies' choice? MediaTek for their flagships? Intel? NVIDIA? Qualcomm has a good market. It could even beat NVIDIA, but they need to protect it. Imagine NVIDIA released their new Tegra chipset. It is as powerful as the S835 but the GPU is 10x better. There are not enough S835. OEMs go for NVIDIA. OEMs are happy since they cost less than S835. OEMs decide to use NVIDIA's next chips because of the advantages. Qualcomm looses money and clients.

And I can testify that OP3T performance is simply faultless. Sometimes I have huge games or browsers with tabs in the double digits open in the background and never once did it slow the device down. Nor did it have to reload them in any instance. Also the general app load speeds is much better than devices like S7E.

Deals like this struck between companies don't follow any standards. Just like MS drops all patent royalties if an OEM preloads office apps. Qualcomm needs Samsung to produce these. There's a reason Samsung decided to use sd835 instead of their own. The deal must have been worth it for them.

Bear in mind the 3T also has more RAM than the S7E (optimisation?). I highly doubt the Oneplus is as good as people claim it is. I used the first gen when people were spouting nothing but praise, while it was a good device the performance was not as it was hyped to be.

They get paid a lot less than the actual chip's cost. By the way, you should read recent news about Qualcomm and royalties. You could understand something. And Samsung's chips get sold. If they don't, they recycle them in next year's tablets or midrangers. But usually they meet their goals and just end up producing more chips.
