Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 visits GFXBench, Snapdragon 820 inside

25 January 2017
A previous report pointed to an Exynos 7420 chipset, but S820 sounds even better.

Lemmfly, 26 Jan 2017I know the aspect ratio is different. You know you can incr... moreYes, density can be increase but there is no technology for that yet. I havent seen any company out a 4K touch screen at that size. The largest tablet Samsung made was Galaxy View using 1080p display at 18.4inches. The larger the touch screen, the lower the pixel density can be integrated. Unless you making a non-touch screen tv of course. I heard Samsung cant afford to put such high density screen or amoled panel on its tablet range either. Yes, its premium flagship but no one will want to buy a tablet over $300 price range. They could make it, but they wont. It simply wont sell. With that premium specs(super high pixel density, amoled panel, SD820/835/exynos, 4gb ram, 128gb internal) the tablet easily price around $600-$800 similar to Galaxy S7.

And yeah, it is a giant phone at 16:10 / 16:9.

As the other commenters have mentioned, it's perfect for watching movies and reading comics.

Surely you don't think it's an inappropriate ratio for portrait documents?

Then again, we're too much into subjective territory now.

Weight distribution really matters on a tablet which you hold in your hands, which is something some people seem incapable to understand.

I personally like Pixel C's ratio. Is pretty close to 4:3 so still a balanced ratio but when working in split screen both windows keep the original ratio, which is cool. It's also a bit better for widescreen video (though I hardly think that's an issue).

Well. 2048x1536 is ok actually. Sure you see the pixel, but it's not a deal breaker. Unless you have true QXGA. But the problem is that Samsung is still using pentile for AMOLEDs. So, you still have 1024x768 by blue and red subpixels. That isn't great. That's why 4K HXGA would be better in this case.

                            1. Widget looks good in one orientation and shit in the other. (no wonder most phones just lock the orientation to portrait mode)
                            2. Unbalance in the hand, especially holding in landscape with one hand. because its freaking long. Plus hard to reach the 3 buttons at the bottom.
                            3. Web Browsing / Apps / in landscape takes up too much space, when you bring up the keyboard. (Even with specialised keyboard apps / split screen keyboard, it still bad)

4:3 is ideal tablet form factor, always has been in any orientation and any apps or media content. 16:9 is for monitor.. whereby you navigate with keyboard / mouse. or a small phone, which you use with one hand and navigate with thumb. 16:10 best for laptops, or portables with keyboard attached.

Good thing Samsung realise it, and get rid of that crap 16:10 / 16:9 quickly.

4:3 is better for browsing but 16:9 is by far better for multimedia.

For comic and movies 16:9 is ideal, same as 4K res. made for that. Also if its for books/ web browsing you don't need hi-end top performance processor, but one with less power drain (like new with less nm in size). If its for professional use, main point is to got apps and to release it with top performance every year. Samsung is doing same as sony with mobile phones, that's why they are in red.

Still that an year old chip, nothing to get excited. As if they gave up. S6 before came without mem slot, but mid-range not. Tablets now also are about 16:9 in mid-range (back from 4:3 from previous gen). Screen is like getting smaller and less in resolution (try to see FHD 21:9 movie in that). With their abilities they could release 16:9, 4K, S835, 64GB+sd, 12"in 10inch body, without any trouble. Something like S8tablet. Tablet is to view stuff, so why such try to sell an year(and more) old tech as new? Not enough money?
