Nokia is back but doesn't have to pay for almost anything for now- damn smart move. But one of our friend mistook Foxconn for a Finnish company, that's why I told him to get right infos. Still remember as now they have none of good old tech like Pureview, ClearBlack or 3D Touch (all now sadly properties of Microsoft) so they will have to come up with something new. I wish them GL and I'am waiting for MWC.

AnonD-237389, 27 Jan 2017I'm afraid it isn't the exact Nokia, Now if some Samsung ... moreSo if many employees of some 3rd class Chinese company replaces the workforce of Samsung/Apple would you still call that SAMSUNG/Apple ?

In essence it is the "people" who make a company.

The thing is HMD is not another company it is a Brand new Company started by EX Senior Vice president of Nokia from 1999 to 2012.. It consists of mostly old Nokia staff.. and then the "Nokia" itself is a Board member of this company ..

Think of HMD as a separate division of Main Nokia , because Nokia did not wanted to directly invest in phone business again after nearly surviving a death and burdening their balance sheet

AnonD-237389, 26 Jan 2017HMD really deceives people by brand name Nokia, since it's ... moreJust because another company owns the Nokia brand now doesn't mean it's not the real Nokia. Simply put Nokia (the mother company) doesn't want to invest on mobile devices (we know what happened) so they look for investors instead who would finance the design and development of the next generation Nokia phones. And in return Nokia will receive royalties from brand licensing. And we know that some of former Nokia people are members of HMD, and Nokia even has a representative inside HMD. It's a complicated set up though.

Lets clear all: HMD is not exactly old Nokia but it's not Chinese. Foxconn is a Chinese phone assembler and has no Finnish root but works closely with HMD. Please Nokia fans inform yourself better. Let's hope for successful comeback of new Nokia.
