Anonymous, 09 Feb 2011I don't believe engadget..they hate Nokia. The fact that Nokia is not crying foul or refuting the published memo on Engadget means that it is real.

I wish nokia would provide ovi content for downloading via a pc. That would save a lot of headache.

Here's the rest of the memo:

"Meego will be a real competitor when released. Meego will flood the mass market and will be available in the US on multiple devices soon subsidized and unsubsidized. Hop aboard the Meego plane because it is ready to take flight."

That memo is a fake. Why? Cuz more symbian devices were sold last quater than droids. The article that said otherwise didn’t take into consideration non nokia symbian smartphones. Also, reread “android same on the scene two years ago and this week they took our leadership position in smartphone volumes”. The english in the supposed memo is too vague. Whos is they, who are us? Is he trying to compare sales volumes of android to nokia or android to symbian. Both couldn't be. Android is an os nokia is a company. Also, symbian can't be us. Nokia is not the only one using symbian and symbian is not the only os nokia has. Its sooo fake.

What the lot of you talking trash on here fail to realize is that mobile phones aren’t made overnight. What nokia needs right now is to get more devices into the market. making a switch effectively keeps them out till q4.

If elop had made a decision to adopt a new ‘ecosystem’ don’t you think that would reflect in nokias job postings? As far as i know, nokia dont have the staff to port either android or wp7.

Thirdly, nokia couldn’t possibly drop either meego or symbian. Symbian for one is gonna remain a (if not the) major player in the mobile world for years to come. The fan base is just to large.

[deleted post]this memo is definitely wrong because in that it is written that "symbian is increasingly difficult platform to develop new apps" thats absolutely BS because in almost every official blog/article entry nokia mentions that symbian is the best resource friendly environment and also there is something called "qt platform" which has capability to transform android apps into symbian so i think this memo is nothing but FAKE and nowadays there is golden rule for site like fakengadgets to post anti-nokia fake article as it attracts nokia haters/trolls and also nokia fans to start flame war which leads to huge traffic to their site which ofcourse help them to generate revenues

Those are not my words but Stephen Elop's words, the Nokia CEO. He used to be Microsoft's President of Business Division and the memo sort of implies that they may not be going MeeGo. We will see this coming Friday.

They are spending hundreds of millions of dollars into Meego, and you think that they will give up that easily?
You are dreaming my friend. Nokia - Symbian - Meego are here to stay and RULE!

Here's an interesting memo from the Nokia CEO, Stephen Elop. He's brutally honest and it seems like there are some BIG announcement coming on Feb. 11.

Ovi Store has a about 40,000 apps. Thank God they got themselves out of that hole and devs actually want to work Qt for the platform.

Currently waiting for a MeeGo device, N9. I would buy in a minute.

I had a nokia n96 branded on the vodafone net work and found out there was a new firmware that I was not able to download, than I looked into debranding my phone myself and found that it was heaps better than when I brought it and could download the new firmware with no hassle.

Is this phone actually worth getting now? Camera aside, pretty much all of the reviews say the OS is a pig to use. Will the 2.0 update be worth it?
I know all about symbian, but it's nowhere near as user friendly as iOS or Android.
