MS knows very well what to do, in order to succeed! they have been in the smartphone business before Apple and Google. They have great perfirmabce and competitive price, if they had 3rd party support they would triple their figures. As they have shown in the video gane console war, they know what to do, bribe their good bodies EA and have some time exclusives for them, if EA makes the next need for speed, or real racing 4, as a time exclusive for them, their market would be tripled. But probably they have calculated that selling hardware alone is not profitable enough, their priority in the last years is selling services and this is what they are trying to do with the mobile division too. Cashing a monthly fee for online services is the most profitable venue!

Windows 10 is a great OS and the Lumia phones are well made. The reason Windows has not surge as a top OS is because IT DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH POPULAR APPS.
The Microsoft Store needs a really big boost if Windows wants to keep up. The same thing happened to Blackberry - NO APPS - NO SELL.

KMB877, 27 Jan 2017Let me disagree with you: iPhone. As we know, Apple does ... moreYou can't compare last Lumias with iphone, developers don't make apps for W10 but for iOS and android. They are the main culprit. Otherwise W10 is the most advanced and secured OS, at least better than android. Would you buy an android phone if there is a app hap like Windows 10? Will you prefer android to Windows 10 mobile if you get all the apps for Windows 10 that are available on play store or app store?

NoBuddy, 27 Jan 2017I had 2 lumia models. Totally useless. I moved WP to Androi... moreI've sold my OnePlus 2 and got a Lumia 950XL about three months ago.

Infinitely better OS than what Android was on the OnePlus. I'm extremely happy that I made this change, as I now have access to smart features, more customization options than on Android, no app crashes, better homescreen (live tiles vs static icons), and the battery life is much better as well.

AnonD-638664, 27 Jan 2017Sorry, but i have to call BS on your post. Windows 10 Mobil... moreAs a windows 10 mobile fan, I think you're very biased. The release of the Lumia 950/xl were a disaster. I bought the phone for full price in CAD which came to a bit over $1K with the 2 year complete warranty. The phone had nothing but issues/bugs. It took them a YEAR to get things in order. By then the price of the phone dropped significantly. So those who paid early were just given an expensive buggy experience. Reviews all showed similar issues. It was dead on arrival because the OS killed it. During that time many people were leaving for android. What really killed a lot of users was Pokemon Go. That's when I really saw users leaving for android.

Even after all this time the software has its quirks. Some users experience really odd issues. I have been fine so far but I read up on issues and other things people have and honestly this kind of thing shouldn't be happening. There's no consistency. There's no way to know if you will have issues or not. It could be your MS account, who knows.

The retrenchment of mobile was a necessary evil as it's better to not exist than to exist with a really bad reputation. Honestly it's better to be known as the OS without apps than the OS full of bugs. Apps can't be blamed on MS, bugs can.

So as of the last production update things are smooth for me and all is well but the app situation hasn't gotten any better. MS stopped selling most of the phones, pulled out of a lot of countries and they aren't offered by any carriers. So it's a no brainer that they sold 81% less.

MS is trying to solve the app gap issue. I'm not sure Desktop is the way to go. New innovative hardware is probably the only thing that will help them. The problem with claiming you have 400 million potential customers on desktop is that those 400 million customers likely have an iphone/android where they can already get the apps. The best thing for developers to do is to create purely cross platform apps with Windows 10. If you buy it on android you can get it on windows 10 for free. Games need cross platform play. When Asphalt Xtreme came out the forums were filled with android/iphone users that couldn't sync their game play with windows 10. Gameloft kept the platforms separate which is great that it syncs for Windows hone users but windows 10 needs to be seen as the central platform that works with all platforms.

AnonD-248589, 27 Jan 2017How much do they owe you on a $29 phone?Considering you can get an Android phone for that price as well, I'd sya MS owes him a lot more than you think.

Will they ever stop pouring money into this dead OS? I'm no hater of a rival OS toppling Android as long as it's good, but the way I see it, is that Windows phone has no good ideas put into it nowadays, and that, coupled with all of its bugs and no app support, makes it useless in the smartphone market. Get competitive, or get lost!!

Microsoft launched only 1 item 1 year ago and they are still selling nearly 1 million devices in 3 months. that means people are buying year old models. That means WP is still popular. if there were new model of Lumias or maybe Surface Phone people will certainly buy new WPs. I'm also waiting for a new Microsoft branded WP. I have ditched android on my Xiaomi Mi4 and using it with Windows 10. and mind your language brother, don't act like a drug addict.

Windows 10 Mobile (and 8.1, for that matter) are most stable OS˝s I have used. Plus, "there is no software statement" you made is totally wrong. OK, there are some Apps that are not available on win10 but 99 percent of what you actually need and use is there.

Microsoft fell miserably after removing the Nokia brand in their Lumia phones.

Nokia contributed a lot to Windows phone's popularity. The Nokia name in Lumia was a magic back then. It attracted people to use the Windows Phone OS.

There is no chance that Microsoft can defeat Android and iOS. The Continuum feature is a breakthrough but Windows Phone as a whole is boring. I personally used a Windows Phone in 2015 and honestly, after 3 months, my fascination in the ecosystem was vanished. It lacks apps and customization.

I'm happy to see Nokia is coming back with Android.

Yes! I'm a Nokia fan too.

I had 2 lumia models. Totally useless. I moved WP to Android 2 weeks ago. WP MS don't care about software. Never buy any mobile product of them. Never buy WP in current market. Buy one if only they will release a phone with better software in future.

I want to buy Microsoft mobile division. But unfortunately I don't have enough money. 😖 By the way, someone will buy soon. Maybe Nokia.
