Bad choice!!
Capturing the market by end 2011 or 2012 would be impossible. Because by that time, android would be rocking. Wish nokia would have adopted android!!

W7 OS?where is pretty good are talking ? Review First Bef... moreRead my post again. I said Windows 7 for desktops are pretty stable. Compare it to Vista and you'll know that Windows 7 is what Vista should have been.
Windows 7 for desktops is not the same as WP7 (Windows PHONE 7) for mobiles.

Unfortunately no QT on windows phone means nokia gains nothing from this.
Microsoft gets:
-to push bing forward to 1/3 of the mobile world

Didn't N8 outsold all those new WP7 devices? Well surely there should be enough resources to create something, though Nokia also should have enough power, but I guess all the good guys had left the company during OPK time.
Will Samsung be no 1 in mobile world already this year (e.g. Q4)?

The 'change year' is 2011-2012...meant atleast the 34r-4th Q of 2011...question is what will happen to the sales of Nokia Smartphones..which are already getting rolled out..and the ones who are hoping to see the daylight in a few days or months???
Already the OS rapo is causing them dear atleast in the smartphone section....Nokia really thinks that any wise customer will go for the existing Symbian S-phones in the next few months anymore????
Im talking abou these N8, C6, C6-01, E7 etc......who and why should anyone buy them when Nokai officially announced that the OS at thier heart is nomore a priority for them!!!!
All the focus..prod excellence..budget input will shift to WP7 platform now..not gradually bt I think quite swiftly..
Nokia gonna hit a bottom in smartphone volume in the coming days (before they gets stable on WP7..or at if they can get)....goodluck Nokia...my one time favorite...
I shifted to Samsung.. :)..Nokia you made me do so...

This is big. I was a nokia fan and bought N8 and love it. But this news just made N8 my last nokia phone, hopefully nokia will also come up with phones having other softwares also. This is a clear win for samsung and other rivals.

Nokia needs to bring out a fresh new Symbian UI and they should be fine or stick with maemo/MeeGo and perhaps have some Android devices. NOT Windows, this is a bad move. Their stores have closed down, whats next the whole company?

abhi, 11 Feb 2011Exactly...
Maybe symbian is an old OS but still it offers ... morebtw... most of those symbian loving customers r going to switch to android bcoz it's the only OS which comes close to symbian in terms of functionality.
So, adopting windows 7 is going to hurt nokia more than doing any benefit.
Windows 7 is a completely immature OS which lacks almost everything & there is no hope that it would improve bcoz microsoft is extremely slow in bringing updates to windows 7. Just bringing a copy/paste feature is taking microsoft 4-5 months, wtf is this ???

Sorry for Nokia. Going to Windows Mobiles which is a big failure already. The sensible move would have been to choose Android. Good, now Samsung and their great phones will be number one for sure !!!
