As I read somewhere, 2 turkeys don't make an eagle. But I sincerely hope Nokia start making awesome phones like they used to and its about time to let go of symbiam.

There you go, i was waiting for this to happen, two of the market leaders joining forces, it is the ultimate kick in the nuts for Apple and Google.

With market leaders Nokia onboard the Microsoft's ship it's only a matter of time before Windows Phone 7 blows up all over Android and iOS like hurricane.

Nokia is churning out like 400 million units a quarter, and if even 10% of them has Windows Phone 7, Apple and Google will have a make peepee in their pants.

Mind you i am a Android user.

This is a really bad decision by nokia. Samsung was intelligent enough to adopt a platform which was free and growing in popularity. Here the win platform isn't really doing that well going by the market share and statistics. They didn't think well and the former microsoft guy convinced the shareholders to go for win platform . wow . All nokia fans would have loved to buy nokias with android.

you're doomed Nokia.. desperate move.. indirectly you admitted you lose to Android.. FYI, WP7 needs high specs, whereas android can operate even in low spec phones(look at x10 mini of sony ericsson)..

hmm wow very shockign and interesting news. It's almost like a desperate move for two "sinking boats" companies to catch up with the their competitors. But I'm not 100% sure this will work... i mean WP7 has still a long way to go.. and by 2012 it could be too late, but we'll have to see.

I can't describe just how disappointed I am,

Nokia is dead. I'm not buying WP7 products.

Killing Symbian was a HUGE mistake.

You should've gone with Android if you were planning to adopt Nokia.

Nokia is like Motorola 2-3 years ago. Both have always been great at making phones and have plenty of experience with it. But eventually, both fell from grace. They just needed the right software because they are great at hardware. Moto teamed up with Google and made a comeback. ATRIX 4G looks to be the best phone of the year. I think Nokia can benefit with WP7 the way Motorola allied with Android. I don't understand so much hatred for this alliance. It helps and balances them both out. I know Microsoft can be polarizing, but WP7 is a slick, slick OS. Forget the brand/image and just look into the final product. I don't personally love Apple but do love the iPhone. I don't like Microsoft, but still bought an Xbox and use Windows 7. Separate the company from the product. This R.I.P. talk is just some knee-jerk reaction and jumping to conclusions just to try to be witty. Is Microsoft anymore evil than Apple?

nice, now we will see nokia phones with:

                    No system-wide file manager
                    No videocalling
                    Limited third-party apps availability
                    No Bluetooth file transfers
                    No USB mass storage mode
                    No multitasking
                    No copy/paste
Too dependent on Zune software for computer file management and syncing
                    No music player equalisers
No Flash or Silverlight support in the web browser
No sign of free Bing maps Navigation so far
                    No DivX/XviD video support
                    No internet tethering support
New ringtones available only through the Marketplace
Swapping memory card requires hard reset; cards not readable by computer
                    No customisation

the turkeys have combined.... to become a chicken not an eagle.....

Nokia just can't get low anymore. What surprises me is that they don't want to do a partnership with google (android) but with microsoft. Microsoft is still beggining with winphone7 ans cant be compared to ios or android. I guess they could create some platforms, or free open source devices so any of us could install the soft he wants to, like PC's.
