They are not in red but...such significant decrease in portfolio and market presence, uncompetitive prices and advertising made 2016 a bad year....
Sony corp in all having a bad 2016
Just keep the mobile excellence coming and lower the midrange portfolio prices.

Sony, hire someone from Samsung to do the marketing for you and make strategic planning throughout the year. I think from years to years Sony make stupid and bad marketing planning. If this still happen, no wonder Sony brand will be extinct such as HTC....

Moving away from the Z Series was questionable they didn't really do anything to justify it in their new flagships and now working for a phone company, customers only know the Z5 they can't seem to relate to the newer X series

I am sony user,and i say nothing wrong with sony product, its fantastic and very high quality,the downside is that they did not advertise its very well,they need to change that,i like sony and i hope they realise and repair their mistake,may god bless sony

Sony mobile phones comes with a great display and music but lacks the hardware. Sony is coming out with MT SOC's instead of SD for entry level, don't know why they turned on SD for entry level. Price is the next point where they have gone mad... One more thing is that they are not shipping entry level phones to India... don't know the reason for that also...
If they take care of these things first, we can look for some interesting smart phones from Sony.

JT, 03 Feb 2017Don't blame us, the customers, sony. Blame your self. Your ... moreIm from Europe and I have to say that sony's service centers here are excellent. Don't blame the brand, blame the people that work there.
My problem is that I've been in about 10 different shops where they sell phones (carrier's shops or independent) and none of them had any Sony phones on display or on stock! I only saw one M4 (mid-range phone).
When I asked one of the sellers why don't they have any Sony phones I was replied that it's because they are trained to offer as an alternative Samsung phones. That's why the sales are low.
If a regular person with standard knowledge about mobile phones doesn't see the product in their hand they don't buy it. And because there are no Sony phones on display and the shops always try to sell you Sammy's junk phones, customers will always listen to the seller like a blind sheep.
I then went to another shop and asked for a Sony phone. The girl at the counter said they don't sell Sony products and asked me if I'm interested in a Sammy. I told her I hate Samsung exploding phones and she was like trying to make me talk in a lower voice LMAO.
Then she asked me if I want one of those Chinese fortune cookie Huawei and I just started laughing and left the shop.
Sony should have a more aggressive marketing scheme if they want their phones to be sold to the regular people (the masses).
Or they should adopt Sammy's techniques by flooding the market with low and mid-range phones. In the end those are the ones being sold the most, not the high-end phones.

Sony problems: price, spec comparison with other competitor with same price tag, benchmark+speed test (as a promotion/campaign). Can't remember when last Sony win in benchmark or speed test again other competitor, that huge affect for buyer who are not Sony fanboy.
Quality, top class.
Design, its about a taste.

I've been sitting here on my Z3 Compact and watching Sony make some very questionable decisions and downgrades to their phones with each generation. That, and lack of advertising. I'm not surprised by the drop in sales, they still haven't offered a suitable upgrade over the now 2 generations old Z3C.

Don't blame us, the customers, sony. Blame your self. Your service centers and your customer services are the worst in the world. Not just from your mobile division, but also from your all divisons. You have been arrogant and ignoring your customers for years, so this news is not suprising.
Stop blaming us, sony. Fix your company. You got fantastic products and great marketing, but your service centers and your customer services are the worst in the world. Unless you want to change, you will be dying. Start reading and listening to your costumer complains and start concerns,
