I am comparing each handset profit , for j3 (2016) and xperia xa . In my country xa sales at 999 and j3 only sells at 599 which both handset is almost the same spec. Thus profit for each xa sales is almost twice of j3 if you minus out the material cost. Of course Samsung overall profit is many many times sony because Samsung total sales quantity is higher.
By the way Samsung is also going down now. In the lower end budget market oppo, vivo is eating market share of Samsung. as seen oppo now no.1 market share in china . In many rural area around the world now only see oppo logo where Samsung is disappearing. At the flagship market, Samsung is also losing to apple.
Samsung also need to change or else may be going down faster than sony... lollllll

to many variants - x, x performance - last not even launched in all markets.
selling mediatek phone for high prices - no good idea! i bought a xa and after 2 months i am starting to think that it might made a wrong decision.
where are your market researchers sony?
- z5 dual sim never reached brazil
- can't find the xz dual sim on your brazilian website eihter
Brazil is a country where most people have 2 sim cards to cut costs.
your compact line - from my point of view the most exciting android phones - but again, no dual chip.
it is so easy - focus on your qualities. camera, buildquality, sound and software. cut development on multiple devices. nobody wants a 2. or 3. version of the same phone. stop using mediatek cpu. they suck!
my fear is, if NOKIA is going to come back it might be sony's end in the mobile business. they target the same users. quality loving people ready to pay a higher price for that.

Z5 is an excellent buil and quality phone. Only poor side is its not very good being dropped.

By having higher selling price for especially for x series, sony can give higher quality component/phone thus reducing market/warranty claim, improving profit margin and giving better customer satisfaction. The sales is down cos customer unable to accept higher price for same spec compare with competitor. May be the sales will go up soon once the customer realize the quality of sony new x series phone or may be not . What is important is sony is making profit now quarter by quarter eventhough profit is small (around 20 million us dollar for latest 3rd quarter compare with billion by apple & samsung). May be sony is moving in the right direction or may be not ( if sales continue to go down).

Bad reception, loss connection to network very often, internet never work proper, to sensitive useless display, communication software crash, echo on microphone. I wonder if this is waterproof phone? My was never in the water. Worst case is aftersales service. I'll never buy any Sony product again.

But i always visit the service center once in every 2-3 years to replace my battery. it doesnt cost much, around $85 in my country. Very very cheap compared to buying new phone.
So i completely agree, Qnovo is useless.

And I upgrade my phone every 2-3 years so it's no big deal if your battery last marginally longer than mine since all flagships can easily last you for 4-5 years if you take proper care of it.
