Sony shipped 5.1 million Xperia phones last quarter, a 33% drop year-on-year

That's sales, not the whole truth. You see back in 2014 they had losses instead of earns, now they have lower sales (it is expected since sony focuses on flagships now) because there are no new midrange releases.
Sony is seeing profit in mobiles now and not losses, that is enough.

Actually now sony change strategy. Sony increase selling price that's why their quantity is lower. But their profit is twice more than Samsung or other competitor. Eventhough previously their sales is higher but making lost but now they are making profit quarter by quarter. smart.... example j3 (hd) price is 2/3 price of xa (hd too).

All had issues with speakers and battery in an way or another in the first half a year of functioning. Nokia had never beaten a Sony device in my experience from 2008 till now, regarding reliability - at least!

My deep condolence to sony. I hope sony will stop using plastic materials, fix the automode camera issue, put more 'wow' features into the devices, and stop using enormous bezels. Otherwise you'll fail again, sony.

Hmm, this is despite the earlier results that showed XZ outselling every other smartphones in Q4?
Anyways, I hope Sony releases a proper flagship in 2017 with proper flagship specs. It should be a successor to the Z5, not the XZ (which didn't have standout features and had some below-par specs for a flagship).

It's funny how Sony manufactures the best camera sensors and yet the camera on their phones is comparable to some higher end midranger at best

I drop my Xperia Z2 many times but never break, it is very sturdy and premium build and I still wash with plain water.

Me, 03 Feb 2017Xz has fast charge but you have to purchase the fast charge... moreI already used fast charger (Aukey) with QC 3.0 and it took 2 hours and 20 minutes or so,
i tried the charger on other phone and it fully charged it within less than half that time with XZ !

Bad battery life, and very slow camera compared to other manufacturers are the main reason for this result.

Nokia lasts AGES my 3310 is 17 year old. Sony has been overpriced compared to competition including Samsung in top markets like US India and China. And Sony is the same company that disabled fingerprint scanner in US. I do respect them but won't buy another Sony till it proves it's best. Former user Xperia play

I strongly recommend to All my friends that the service of sony is very bad and I had a bitter experience with sony Thailand.Within one year my mobile speaker damaged 3 times and for service itself they kept it 3 months in themself.

Sony made good smartphones in 2013 and 2014 (plus the Z3 Tablet Compact), now i'm not planning to buy any of their phones.
