11 February, 2011
It has been just a day after Nokia announced its extensive collaboration with Microsoft and already a Nokia concept with Windows Phone 7 was revealed. Even though it's just a prototype, the first lovechild...

It will help Nokia boost up its sale.. but not to the extent they might be hoping.. a very marginal increase of say 2-3%
What it might turn out for them is a strategic partnership in long run.. but thats too early to forecast

Right now, Apple has taken the market by storm and its hard to make a dent in that segment. What Win7 provides is a cheaper alternative to ppl who cant afford an iPhone.

Also, this brings consolidation for 3 key players - Android, Win7 and Apple.

People use your heads you have them so that you can think. Nokia is allowed to modify the windows in their phones as they like and want. This is confirmed. So people who complain windows phones being cr@p I tell you this. They are allowed to modify WP7. Google also offered Android to Nokias use but they refused. So I tell this once again. Nokia is allowed to modify windows as the like. To more userfrindly for example.

Definitely i will NOT BUY ANY NOKIA PHONE if it will be with crappy, MOST boring, useless Microsoft Windows Phone 7 OS!

I just wondering if Nokia choose what OS to use in their handset, then why they not choose HP Web OS???

And I without doubt agree with others that Nokia and CEO president Stephen Elop it's a Microsoft agent so this year will be Nokia nightmare and Nokia choose straight way to full extinction... .

My next purchase Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II even i still Nokia suporter.

        P.S.
If you wanna alive, then KICK OFF yankee Microsoft agent Stephen Elop and then invest a lot money in MeeGo or Symbian development!
Other way - HP Web OS... .

the problem with Nokia is they stick with their traditions. They thought that their Symbian would still be the best smartphone platform out there until Apple IOS came up. Several times Nokia tried defeat IOS with their so called Iphone Killer but even the Nokia N8 doesn't closely match to the Iphone. Well Nokia maybe good with the hardware but they lack a powerful OS so its still a waste.

Now they have tried Maemo but then since they dont want to loose their PRECIOUS Symbian so they didnt have the time bring out its potential.

Then Android came and it changed the way we use mobile phone and that's the time when Nokia realized they are loosing customer fast. Even their S40 and S30 handset are having a tough competition with cheaper phones that came in China. That includes SUPER CHEAP DUAL SIM HANDSET w/c can also be used for texting and calling.

So here is what I want for Nokia to do:
          1. build dual sim phone because i still believe Nokia phones are well built quality phones compared to generic China phones.

          2. instead of using Symbian for mid level devices, try Meego or Maemo perhaps. They can stick with S40, its still a great option

          3. to once and for all end the battle for Droid and iOS, then yes take a courageous step and try out WP7. who knows Nokia may change the game again.

windows phone 7 is a half-baked OS. unless nokia would help to make it complete and competative, i'll stick to symbian or jump ship to android.

Excellent nokia, I can't wait for nokia wp7 based OS. You see guys, this is how smartphone should be design, colourful and fresh look not always black color, and square shapes. I can see Nokia targetting young customer with this model, and I believe price should be around usd350 - usd400.Yess I can see Nokia gain back their market share once the product release. We are all excited for this partnership, developers also excited, so let's sit back and enjoy the show. Actually we love nokia, but we always hope they will do something with their outdate Os and now we can relax as they choose the most stable os aka wp7. Welcome back Nokia

how the hell did i miss this!? First ive heard of Nokia and wp7. I thought all the energies were going into meego. If i had realised new symbian 3 users were gonna be dumped like this then i would have either stayed with iphone or gone with android. So much for giving Nokia another chance

murlidhar, 13 Feb 2011For a smart phone just the looks don't matter. I need a pho... morethe home screen is completely customisable, you can remove all items or add any items you want. for example you can add a note to the home screen, or a specific webpage, or a song or anything really you can think of. Apps of course can be added to the home screen as standard. WP7 is an excellent OS believe me.

                                  i just don't get it...why is wp7 better than s^3???
it's not...the thing is, that today people buy the phone not for usability but for the look, and windows phones are always "fancy" an that is the only thing (and that is also true for iOS and android)...

if there is any way, that nokia will be still making symbian phones, i will buy them, if not i will stick with s40 phones...

an like somebody else already said... RIP Nokia...

For a smart phone just the looks don't matter. I need a phone that can perform too and being a smart phone it should have lots of apps in the market!
What is the use of cool looking smart phone when you can't customize it the way you want to ? in other words is WP7 customizable to my liking ?
where is the personalization of a phone ?
How many home screens can WP7 carry ? Can i put my own shortcuts on the home screen ?
If so , let talk about the looks then. i am interested!

Tapio, 12 Feb 2011I'm sorry to say it, but you're an idiot... First of all, I... morethx for calling me idi*t, so what mod that you di with your symbian phone? i did with my 5800,custom rom, swift from ashi(sory i forgot your name)and mostly it just themes, ringtones, deletes all stock app from nokia and thats what you called smartphone OS?
you can mod the heapsize, switch swap file, etc, nothing but BS.
keypad OS is something that good with keypad phone, but when you stick it in touchscreen, it still only can do keypad phone jobs.
so for you smartphone is something that can multitask?and that it?
please sir tell me clearly what symbian do better than android and iOS. is it fair to compare a 10years old symbian with 1years old iOS or 1 years old android??? compare that 10years old with 4years old iOS or 2 years old android please,i dont think you will bravely said symbian will won. because if symbian that good nokia will not switch to winmo, right?
for me smartphone OS is more complex, from integrate your daily activity, control your computer remotely, help me manage ip config, password, and notes (a long notes) etc, i dont play games in my phone. i did try symbian, and it really make me surprise that people do called this crap a smartphone OS(sorry).
so as a symbian lover you trying to say that most people so dumb when putting technology on their hand??
for me its the customer right to choose! its our freedom to buy smartphone and use it like we want, even you bought it and just brick it to the wall its all your right as customer.
so your symbian need overclock just to run GPS? how bad, its a relly poor OS huh?
yeah web OS really good and slick, BB OS also great, symbian not.
                                        its a big lies man.
you just read your own post and tell me clearly, what make symbian better than iOS and android?? make a clear comparison and technical argument please.
people need public information and defending symbian are part of big lies to keep supporting nokia financial.
people deserve more functionality and capable smartphone OS and nokia had been sold poor keypad phone OS for the price of a smartphone and thats wrong. wake up people! stop symbian BS.
