This is a good match, as both Nokia and Microsoft had something lacking in their arsenal in the smartphone wars.
Nokia is a great exclusive brand that Microsoft can capitalize on, and will give WP7 the credibility it needs.
WP7 will help Nokia as they were scrambling with their OS efforts which so far had not made the impact they wanted.
In my opinion, this partnership makes Nokia/WP7 a serious contender in 2011.

Is this even a smartphone or a candy phone ?
6 years ago nokia had made N80 which had multitasking, USB mode, SD card slot (hot swapable), Copy paste, video calling, java, etc.
Now Nokia is producing a phone without any of these but just eye candy !!! Nokia is running a completely different race.
LOL.....While Android, iOS runs towards the finishing line, nokia are moving back to the starting line....

adam, 12 Feb 2011finally nokia!! you already get out from your own symbian b... moreYou guys dont like good competition! There are so many androids out side there, there is no need of another brand putting more equal devices. You android fans got many options to choose. You dont need nokia. Get your android phones, I will get my WP7 Nokia!

All i can say is thank goodness i returned to nokia now, and got an n8. Unfortunately, this is the last nokia i will probably get :( , well at least until they ditch w7. In case you are wondering, i am not a fanboy, i'm an embedded software engineer, and i can tell you that symbian is the most advanced OS on any phone today, but the gui lets it down (for the non technical). For those who don't know, the OS is whats under the hood, not what you see. Anyway, sad day, but best of luck nokia and ms - hope you are successful, just not with me.

Anonymous, 13 Feb 2011LOL so you are mad at android because you bought a low end ... morelol. You mad bro?
My point is that Nokia "generally" got a great loudspeaker and headphones output. Even some s40 devices got good sounds.

Picture looks good, but just a concept until it materialized. By then I hope they still have and able to convince their customer that this is the phone to get.
I foresee they have to market this new toy with added goodies and competitive pricing to enter the market share.

Elope killed nokia, nokia remained a great company for around 10years, they were distinct compared to other manufacturers in software. But not anymore they are yet another OEM who manufacture Windows Phone OS7(which is sh1t compared to apple ios or android or even symbian(for features)). Any mobile OS will run butter smooth in 1Ghz processor, its no wonder. I hate to say, but i m not gonna buy nokia anymore, nokia goes to their doom now.

some1., 13 Feb 2011Finally... nokia came off frm symbain.... well, seems grea... moreThink you need to re-read the posting rules mates, you're only allowed to post in English. Also, no windows 7 phones have copy/paste at the moment, but they will do after an update soon. Nokia won't make any android phones, for obvious reasons.

I said it elsewhere: it's kind of sad, good old days are over - but Elop is right. His job is to keep Nokia alive. Let's be honest, Symbian incl. S3 cannot compete to other mobile OSes since a long time anymore and developers fade away, anyway. MeeGo, very promising, is lightyears away from now and, that's important, has ZERO Eco-System. The effort to bring it on a level which is comparable to iOS or Android or even S3 is HUUUGE and the question still remains if it's worth to invest all resources for a 'NewBe'. For my person, I own a C6-01 and I'm very happy with it - but I'm really more excited about a Windows Phone from Nokia. If Nokia can deal out some exclusives to individualise the OS, like implementing USB-OTG or other Nokia-Features like a File-Manager a.o., it would be a great thing. And if you keep in mind what Android manages to become in only 2 years, what are Nokia and Microsoft together are capable to do ??? The prospects are gigantic. I wonder if we will see new Nokia-Hardware tomorrow at MWC which hopefully will prove my dreams.
