New Concept build for Sony Xperia X brings ambient display, other changes

The ambient display feature allows your phone screen to wake up whenever there's a new notification.

Wow! Just WOW!!

So Android phones in 2017 don't have this option as standard? Windows phones have this since always. And custom notifications types for different accounts on the same app.

                  For a moment there, I thought the display itself was already responsive to the environment lighting, itself. Without needing the conventional ambient light sensor. Good thing I read the article.

                    They should combine the idea of ambient display with the accelerometers.

                    You are very likely to move the device (pick it up) if you get a notification AND wants to see it.
                    If you are asleep or otherwise not close to the phone, it would be waste of battery to wake the display...
