While this all may be true and gives me hesitation about installing N, fact is the devices and the batteries are approaching 1 yr old. Another fact is these are balls to the wall tests, all go no quit. The doze mode in Android 7.0 will offset this in day to day usage. My previous Nexus 6 Motorola phone greatly improved with N developer preview due to the improved Doze mode. That being said, if the Pixel 2 is water resistant and has wireless charging I'm upgrading as soon as possible. Wife has the Pixel XL 128 GB and the phone is buttah!! Getting sick of slow updates (Thanks phone carriers 😉) here in the US.

Are they comparing the results to results from a year ago on a brand new battery, or did they do the marshmallow tests right before they upgraded? If the marshmallow tests were done a year ago on a new device and the nougat ones on a 1-year old battery, that is not a fair comparison.

Would be interesting to see how the new iOS on the iPhone 7 vs Nougat on S7 Edge compare now, and on all benchmarks

                          what about galaxy s7 ???

There is a significant drop in battery life, especially if you let notifications in the aod.. And the new notifications drop menu isn't that great either.. Maybe i need to restore the device like we do with iphones when all else fails?

I have an Exynos S7 Edge, and I can testify that, in certain circumstances, battery life can be worse with Nougat, but only when using the stock browser. But battery life with Always-On-Display is significantly better, and overall it can be better than Marshmallow if you don't use the stock browser which is very fast, but very energy consuming.

Is this test conducted on a brand new phone or the same handsets the original tests were conducted with as battery degradation would explain the drops

The stupid is high in the comments section today. This is an endurance test, not a flapping 'standby' test. Take off the google/samsung fanboy glasses for a second

TW always was crap and always will be. Of what use is 6gb of RAM, the latest SoC, when the software isn't optimized and all that power can't be used for anything else, than benchmarks. And ignorant sheeple continue to only care for numbers and specs, who cares about RL performance.

AnonD-120291, 06 Feb 2017One thing clearly is conirmed....amoled draws such little p... moreThat's not the issue here. A display having more pixels to light up means more power draw. What is changing here is how many pixels are rendered by the processor, and then scaled to the FIXED amount of physical sub-pixels. Changing the render resolution only reduces the power used by the GPU, not the screen. For games/3d benchmarks this could increase battery life a lot. For every day use it will not as the GPU is not stressed rendering simple 2D content in a higher resolution. The sub-pixels lighting up to make the screen work are a hardware thing so they are static.

So the people complaining about too high of a resolution still have a point and actually lighting up a high res screen (not processing what is displayed on them but the physical act of having it light up) is the biggest power drain on modern devices.

What a crap, people just update for improving the experience and what they have is less battery life.
