I wonder if it is because nougat pushes the hardware as far as it can go. Compared to Android 6.0.1 on running on a custom ROM, I've noticed that running Nougat tends to use more power to increase performance.

That's so weird
My phone battery with nougat is noticeably better. I can reach 9 hours SOT with hd resolution beside Android system and OS are less battery eaters now

the test results for Marshmallow are taken from the first review of the phone? any chance that, since then, the battery on your test unit did worn out to some extent?

Gsmarena most probably did not factory reset their phone. To avoid all sorts of issues, this need to be done after any major update on android.

That's... kinda weird. I'm on the Nougat update now, and I feel that I've gotten more battery life instead of less. For the most part, I've gotten longer standby time and screen on time as well, and it's quite noticeable.
A lot of my friends seem to say the same too, and yes, we're all on the Exynos chip, SM-G935FD to be exact.

Was this S7edge tested after it got the big bug-squashing update AFTER the Nougat update?
You know most OEM's seed that big bug-squashing OTA right after they do a major incremental OS update, right?

Updated Galaxy Ace 2 from 2.3.6 to 4.1.2 -everything went downhill
Updated HTC M8 from 4.4.2 to 5.0-lag kicks in
I'am extremely skeptic about new OS update. And this gonna confirm my suspicion: Updates are here to show new possibilities of new phones with new OS and at the same time make current phones work worse so it forces users to buy new phones to get those "new features" without any flaws/problems.

So, that means my decision is right not to update my s7 edge into nougat. Im happy with my 6.1 marshmallows.

And people complain about not getting updates fast enough...
This is still a 'good' score for sure. Now how about the regular Galaxy S7, GSMArena? Aren't you gonna test it out?

Thanks guys for intensive reviews and tests! These tests are what make me keep watching this site
The result strikes me as strange. Other factor may have played out (e.g. chrome version) but it represents real life usecase after all.

This is why I'm always skeptical about updates. Everyone seems to complain about not getting but I always see problems arise when they come and thus often choose not to update.
