Hope that Intel helps Xiaomi giving them the required help by giving the foundries to make enough chips and the Modem to avoid to pay patents and to enter easier on other markets.

The match Qualcomm vs Mediatek became like Intel vs AMD on desktop, just that there are also other manufacturers making their own chips like HiSilicon (Huawei), Samsung and Apple

SD835 unavailability contribute very little or none at all in the creation of Pinecone. Though, I may say it is wiser to futureproof their company with in-house chipsets. I hope all the 'top' brand use their own chipset and less dependant on Qualcomm or Mediatek.

Great, after Qualcomm overpriced chipsets' scandal and the stunt Samsung pulled with all the Snapdragon 835, every phone manufacturer should start to create their own chipsets and keep Qualcomm's monopoly at bay.

AnonD-625786, 06 Feb 2017This is going to be a failure. Guaranteed. The chipset is not even out yet. And you haven't even seen review of a single device, featuring that SoC. And you can guarantee that it will be a failure. I would suggest - be more open minded.
I have my own doubts on the chipsets coming out of china - for having malware. But we need to wait and see. Not pass judgment even before it is out.
