Anonymous, 10 Feb 2017Why do we need 5G? Genuinely curious.Congestion. The same way we need roads. Digital traffic is only increasing, and as more and more people use online services away from home and more and more devices become smart enabled the more strain it's putting on 2G, 3G, 3G+, 4G. You might have noticed this, maybe not, but when 4G launched where I live I was achieving speeds that allowed a P2P file of 156MB to complete in less then 30 seconds where as now the same file takes nearly a minute. Still fats but basically twice as long as before and that will only get more and more strained. More spectrum's just like more roads means reduced congestion.

Anonymous, 10 Feb 2017Why do we need 5G? Genuinely curious.Because more and more gadgets are getting used. It's not only about bringing fast data to smartphones, but avoiding bottlenecks as car's GPS, smart appliances and dedicated telemetric devices. Heck, even most of the voice calls we're doing today is channeled trough VoIP. If the industry keeps this pace, the nets can be clogged in a few years.

It still baffles me I can only have DSL internet in 2017 in one of the most civilized countries.

I want to see the signal, speed and overall improvement from 4G to 5G be clearly visible in real life. I don't care about a logo, what will I get from a logo? lmao nothing.

This logo is so 2004 for a 2017 technology. They should've asked Google to make them a better logo, not this ancient abomination.

Before jumping at 5G, don't you think it would be smarter to have a 100% LTE-Advanced Cat. 9+ class speeds? I mean, fastest speeds in NA are of 58 Mbps. Lte Cat. 9 promises 450Mbps. Highest LTE Category promises 1Gbps.

Anonymous, 09 Feb 2017Nobody cares. 4G definitely can't be used due to data caps ... moreVery true, you have 4G to use and the "draconian" data caps are limiting everyone from the enjoying the speeds.

Herodroid, 09 Feb 2017+1 I agree. They should first cover 4G about 100% just like... more100%? Then, your country definitely gonna take a long long time to get there. Look at this top 10 list of 4G coverage in 2016:
South Korea - 95.71%
Japan - 92.03%
Lithuania - 84.73%
Hong Kong - 84.52%
Netherlands - 84.1%
Singapore - 82.61%
Norway - 82.42%
Kuwait - 81.77%
Sweden - 81.37%
United States - 81.3%

No matter how much you increase the bandwidth... If the draconian data caps don't go away then there is no need for any new technology after 3G.
