I hv been using S6E with no case since last two years without any visible wear and tear you are talking about. It's not even 6 months since iPhone 7 released still this issue came out. Is that what you call durability? And what about Apple's response to this? Is that what you call customer friendly response?

But one thing also matters- the material used.
I have seen usually polycarbonate bodies tend to fade and scratch a bit over time. But it is never looks bad like color chipping. Glass backs look dull over time ( if not scratches) ,but again not bad as color chipping.

Apple products are mostly made out of Aluminum and coated. Due to see and tear color starts fading/ chipping. But in Colors like silver, gold, space grey this flaws are not easily visible. My iPad is silver coloured. It looks good even today, though a closer look will show signs of color chipping away. On other hand my Xperia Z tablet will non metal back still looks like a new one. Being waterproof, I clean it with water once a while ( literally). But software and user experience is just amazing.

Regarding Chinese makes, I am using Redmi 1s from past 2 years. Back is of polycarbonate. Even toady it looks great. My Lumia 630 looks great too with polycarbonate body.
My BlackBerry Q5 looks good too (2013 buy). But had to change complete Shell 4 months back.
My Moto G turbo is still looking good after 1+ years use.

I prefer to use all my devices without any screen gaurd or covers/ shells. Never had problems.

But OPPO VIVO GIONEE starts looking crap with a month's time, even with mettalic build. That's their quality.

              For 800$, that's not a reason.

WHEN they sold a phone @ US$800 and more, MOREOVER WITHOUT IRREMOVABLE cover, they should at least make their device's case DURABLE for at least a year, and THAT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN with Apple's device.

What would people say when they see ur SO CALLED PREMIUM PHONE got chipped or wear when u only had those phone ONLY 4-6 months?

Nope, ur opinion is just YOUR WAY TO JUSTIFY APPLE FOR SELLING CRAP, and u know it better but won't admit it.

aatif khan, 11 Feb 2017It's natural wear and tear. It happens with all colours of ... moreI've used a couple of Chinese brand phones, those that cost below or around the $100 mark, years down the road (1 to 4 years (yes, a 512MB RAM model still works till today), I don't see peeling except minor scratch marks as I didn't use any of them with any casing... I did throw and squeeze them when I use them all over the places so I expect them to suffer wear and tear, but their age also reflects the condition they are in... But no, some are still the same as day one I picked them up...
While reputable brand models start to peel and bend... Ain't got time to treat the gadgets with Absolute tenderLovingCare, but this proves many new expensive gadgets are damn fragile... And still they condemn cheap gadgets, when the ones they're using are not up to daily usage conditions...

d, 11 Feb 2017so iphone 7 is not a premium device ? I didn't mean that. Even Samsung premium offering shows wear and tear, but takes bit longer to be seen clearly.

Nothing is permanent. Wear and tear is inevitable, be it premium or low end. It's just that how quickly it happens, depends on materials used.

When back is of glass / polycarbonate / ceramic, these fading and wear tear is less evident.

This article shows that ALL people who says Apple sold CRAPPY device & HYPER-prized it is not just some biased opinion. Many of them are actually have tried iphone and find it it's just not worth its price tag, unlike Android phone makers who priced their phones at PRETTY reasonable price.

FYI, I was one of iphone 5 user, and, like others, I find iphone A PAIN IN THE ASS device, as I can't transfer music from pc WITHOUT itunes, I CAN'T install apps from the phone storage, I CAN'T have more storage without buying another phone, & I CAN'T have two SIM CARD in one device, which made me HAVE TO BRING TWO DAMN PHONES everywhere I go...

What good does A PHONE IF APPLE CAN'T AT LEAST FIX SOME OF THE PROBLEMS ABOVE?

It's natural wear and tear. It happens with all colours of iphone. But it is most evident in black. In other lighter tones it doesn't get that highlighted soon.

Still iPhone, Moto and Blackberry look decent as time passes. But for brands like Samsung,I have seen it turns horrible within months ( except premium models). No need to discuss about what happens to OPPO VIVO GIONEE makes.

In that case I love Lumia phone polycarbonate bodies. No chipping only fading of color , slowly.

You can't put a case on car (unless you vinyl wrap it).

In 2015 the corners of the leather back on my LG G4 starting wearing off just 3~4 months after purchasing but I didn't cry about it on forums.

You buy a car and drive it half a year and guess what, yes, you will find paint chips.

I can actually agree with Apple's "wear and tear" statement because there is some truth to thatl unless a large quantity of units are showing this only then would I cry manufacturer defect.
