No, which is why it is, by definition, wireless charging. Also I'm on my second Qi phone and they've both come with charging plates, so no extra money for them.

Wireless charging as it is is fantastic. My car has a charging plate built into the dashboard and whenever I get in I just plonk my mobile down and it'll get charged. I have a charging plate next to my bed and on my desk, all I do is put my phone down and it's charging and if I want to use my phone I simply pick it up and use it, no annoying cables in the way.

Charging over a distance will be great, but we're a long way from that being a reality so in the mean time I'm happy to have Qi as it is much more convenient than using a cable to charge my phone.

    5) another big bummer, in comparison with the Type-C chargers, which will be one accessory fits all devices even laptop, wireless charger will be nothing more than a bonus weight for one device

"wireless charging" is overrated, it's worse than cable charge, because: 1)you must buy the wireless charge ($ for the companies) 2) you can't use device when it "wireless" charges and this is a huge bummer 3) only plastic and glass phones can charge, the aluminum ones, which are the best, can't 4) until "wireless" charge will work like a wireless router they better keep this gimmick for themselves to wireless charge their brain with stupid people's money

Can we stop calling it wireless charging. I can't hold my phone and using it while it is charging. Those oem's have really muddy that water with their marketing crap. Imagine putting your phone and laptop on a mat to charge and call it wireless. This is the hspa+ and 4g all over again, which is why later on carriers were forced to go with LTE. Because folks like t-mobile and At&t muddied the 4g name with their marketing non sense. So now we have to call true wireless distance charging. WTH? If the device needs to touch something physical to charge it's inductive charging. I guess that's not sexy enough for the marketing folks to help move devices.
