I realized this only *after* switching to an iPhone and spending over USD 1000 in the process :(

One and only thing Apple ahead of others is pricing, remaining features Apple lags behind by decades and will not catch up.

I'm intending to switch my Xperia over to the next gen iPhone. I'm f'ing done with Xperia, considering what they did to Z5 family.

Off the top of my head I can't think of a meaningful use for native AR support, unless it become goggles too. Will be interesting to see how it's used. Either way it sounds like the new iPhone will be taking a few steps forward rather than backwards this time. Add an always on display and a sd slot and I might be interested.

"A known Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, has speculated that Apple's augmented reality tech will be 3-5 years ahead of the competition"

AnonD-523334, 14 Feb 2017Knew it when they earlier said AR is better than VR. AR is a terrible gimmick and will never catch up. There is nothing it can do better than merely reading your phone.
VR, give it another decade. Both are toxic and black holes to companies that work with them...
