Nokia Executive and Board Member Niklas Savander said in an interview that under the Microsoft-Nokia deal the Finns are free to customize the mobile OS as they see fit. So far no other maker was...

I hate this Nokia MS deal, but after thinking more about and Nokia's situation totally understand that they really had to do something as they weren't able to redesing new UI in 3 years!!!! (They should have gone the easiest way and copy best parts of iOS UI to stay in competion).

I couldn't first understand why they didn't choose free and open Android, but as I have read that Google didn't allow Nokia to add own services/customization (e.g. OVI Maps), it was end of that road.

I wish Nokia would have fight with own smartphone os and tools, but management chose to give up. Hopefully their decision is correct one, though I'm sure they will lose marketshare badly during 2011 and 2012...

This partnership will someday cross a finishing line, and if they decided to go separate way after that, wandering who will retain the pattern rights of the customization and at what price ? Then again if not, Nokia name is not important anymore.

I think Nokia should now also have an agreement with Google for Android. If they do they will remain number one for a long time.

nokia is at the top before.
Its only natural that they can't go anywhere else but going down.
And if they are the best before its always true that someone/something will be better.
Nokia also never learned from their mistake.
They thought touch screen would flop but now its the craze.
They also produce crappy hardwares now.
They never had a innovative phone since n95.
And by they s60v3 never got updated, just a ui update.
Its been there since 2005 and has a lot of software glitch.
And is it just me or the symbian platform is so slow even with the same processor as an adroid.

would be great if nokia add this functionality on WP7:
                  - USB mass storage mode
                  - File manager
                  - No need sync with zune to transfer media files
                  - Great A/V codec support like S^3 now.....

I would rather take a bug or a glitch rather than have a hardware problem. It's like playing a defect raffle with the N8. You will never know if you'll get a unit that will just die and won't turn on or you'll have the purple patch defect on your screen.

This is a good thing in a way as so far I have been put off moving to the new Windows Phone 7 platform because it looks so child like and basic. I made the switch to Android recently and I love the look of the platform. Having a nice GUI is important for the overall feel and iOS and Android offer this. My sister recently got herself a new Android phone for the first time and loves the way it works. She was always a Nokia fan before. I love the Nokia hard and have had a few in my time. Battery life has usually been very good so I hope they can spruce up WP7 to make it better.

I think it would be better if Nokia make their own OS. Everybody shifts to Android SE,SAmsung, htc, etc for its 'social networking'
